Two buildings: 181 and 180[edit]

The Harlem YMCA was founded (with money from Julius Rosenwald) at 181 135th street (as the "West 135th Street Branch"). Then later moved across the street to the current location at number 180 (as the "Harlem YMCA"). Both buildings are significant.

After the Y moved across the street, the original building at 181 became the "Harlem annex", then the "Harlem YMCA Jackie Robinson Youth Center", and was landmarked in 2016. At some point the Abyssinian Baptist Church took possession of it (the 181 building), and it became run-down. The Harlem YMCA continues to operate at 180.

I'm afraid the article might be a little confusing as written? Maybe this needs to be re-written, or separated into two articles? There is one organization which over time occupied two buildings, I'm not sure how best to represent it. - Kzirkel (talk) 19:09, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
