Animal artist[edit]

Harrison Weir loved cats, but he was attached to all animals and birds and was one of the pioneers of animal welfare. He believed in spreading his views by his hundreds of illustrations, trying wherever possible to involve children so from the beginning they would avoid cruelty and make the best use of the animals they came into contact with. His mammoth work is OUR POULTRY & ALL ABOUT THEM 1902/3, which was published in two large volumes full of his illustrations, including many coloured paintings. He kept many breeds of poultry and was particularly fond of Old English Game which he showed. A special study of his busy and useful life has been published in book form as HARRISON WEIR, Artist, Author & Poultryman, Dr Joseph Batty, BPH, Elsted, 2004. This is a large and comprehensive book. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.151.154.107 (talk) 13:37, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also out of print and hard to find. I found one on eBay, but I'm balking at the nearly $50+shipping cost to get it.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  15:41, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cat show source[edit]

What's the source for this cat show information? Need specific page numbers. Online self-published sources say this stuff, but we need a real source. Need this for several other articles, including several cat breeds that were at the show, and for the Crystal Palace article, and the cat show article, etc. Also needed for his founding of the National Cat Club in 1887, the first such organization.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  15:09, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
