Markers for citations[edit]

I added the statements regarding the DVD and his membership in APFA. Why are citations needed? These are facts. You can find the DVD on the Sony BMG website. You can confirm his membership in the APFA website. It's crazy to ask citations for these two FACTS when the rest of the article is brimming with uncited (or arguably unweighty) references to more contentious information. -210.10.135.78 12:39, 26 June 2006 (UTC) K[reply]

Well, put it this way, I look at the wikipedia page about Cool World and see no mention of Kewell. I look at the IMDb page and see no mention of Kewell. Kewell's page gets a LOT of vandalism, so rather than just deleting this random sounding fact I thought I'd flag it for a citation. I've never watched the film and probably never will, so could you please provide some proof? edit: I reckon my initial confusion may be to do with you linking to the wrong film?
Regarding membership of the APFA, well if you can find it on the website it could easily be linked by you, and the link will add to the article. cheers, aLii 12:47, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clearing that up. Someone else added that link to Cool World on Wikipedia, hence the confusion. I removed it a while ago when I noticed it. My original edit deliberately didn't link as I knew it wasn't the same DVD. Someone rephrased the sentence to make the distinction clearer so hopefully there won't be any more confusion. -210.10.135.78 13:01, 27 June 2006 (UTC) K[reply]
Yeah, that was me :P aLii 00:06, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sick of Vandalism[edit]

I've just been scanning through all the anonymous IP addresses that have been vandalising this page recently. It is interesting to note that they are all from Australia :-/ Anyway...

multiple offenders include (click dates for diff):

60.227.199.20,

203.222.133.10,

(User also has a noteable number of vandalism-type edits to a large number of pages) Given the identical nature of the edits I would assume that both IP addresses are the same person, perhaps at home and at work. Either way I would assume there is a fair case for banning IP 203.222.133.10. aLii 10:42, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup tasks[edit]

Considering Australia's recent win against Uruguay in the World Cup qualifier in Sydney, the Kewell article and those on players such as Mark Viduka and goalie Mark Schwarzer plus many other big names will receive more attention from readers and so they also need more attention from editors. Thanks to anyone who has time - amongst exams and end of year rush to edit these! Donama 00:40, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited the Kewell profile. The article as it stands is messy and very unencyclopedic (if that is a word). Too much talk of Australias qualification for the world cup, these details should be included in a 'Australias Road to World Cup' article or something. Remember most people viewing this page will not be Australian and will be more interested in viewing history regarding his club football. Use existing players article as a guide. Jamie 09:24, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As a child he professed wanting to play for England when he grew up.

Citation for best ever player?[edit]

How is it possible to cite a 'widely help opinion'? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.29.88.251 (talkcontribs)

I suppose it's possible if a reputable source makes such a claim.  SLUMGUM  yap  stalk  04:38, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia citations[edit]

OK, so I've been going through the Trivia section looking for some citations to back up the remarks and I'm stuck on

  • The leading scorer of left footed goals one
  • The Ronaldo has "never heard of" one

Can anyone help out here or suggest where those bits of information come from? Otherwise I think I'll probably delete them within a few weeks. aLii 09:27, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Ronaldo comments: http://www.dailytelegraph.news.com.au/story/0,20281,18853850-5001023,00.html He never specifically says that, but he does say he only knows of one Australian player. 203.192.64.186 12:45, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's a similar article in the Sydney Morning Herald http://www.smh.com.au/news/Sport/Rasic-snubs-Socceroos-Kewell-and-Viduka/2006/04/20/1145344211965.html Looks like the Telegraph link no longer works by the way.

Why mention the "gout" thing - Chipperfield is not a doctor. Citing references to fallacious news reports is pretty pointless.

Fast Facts[edit]

The first paragraph of Harry's 'Fast Facts' reads like an advertisement for Westfield Sports High. I say that first paragraph should be deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by W33nie (talkcontribs) 17:39, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree and I will remove it. Kyriakos (talk) 05:46, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The 29-year-old Australian left Leeds for Anfield in July 2003 on a £60,000 a week deal, which the number crunchers at The Daily Telegraph have worked out means that each of his 139 Liverpool appearances at a cost to the club of £157,554. Bargain. [1] Is this relevant?

Add link to Politix website[edit]

Kewell is now the brand ambassador for the Australian Men's Fashion brand Politix (May 2008)- As we are responsible for maintaining the Politix website, it is a conflict for us to add a link to it. If anyone thinks it should added as an external link, please feel free. Parcacorp (talk) 23:21, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can't this section be merged into Personal? It really is extremely unnecessary, and I doubt it should even be on the page at all. I'll merge it with personal in a week if nobody discusses it. W33nie (talk) 00:03, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Alrighty then. Done. W33nie (talk) 21:57, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Galatasaray move off?[edit]

the article's just been changed, after the Galatasary website had splashed that Kewell had signed for them, now according to FoxSports or, more to the point, the man and his agent themselves, he is *not* going to Galatasaray. Was the Galatasaray site hacked? Here's the link to the story:

The article has been protected so that only established users can edit, but the article has now had all the Galatasaraay material removed. Surely that is notable.Londo06 08:54, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We just have to make sure that we don't become a news source, and only update with reliable info. I think we're OK saying that Galatasary say they have signed him, and his agent says that they haven't, but we shouldn't start updating with 'such and such reports this', or 'so and so reports that', or it will just become a gossip article. Ged UK (talk) 09:14, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You'll agree that it certainly is noteworthy. The current edit also fits with the format of existing players. I got the article protected so that the article did not change every five minutes, seems a good edit now, language could be tidied up perhaps.Londo06 09:17, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we certainly have to say which club a player plays for, and in circumstances like this we have to make clear the uncertainty. I think it's good as it is atm. Ged UK (talk) 09:19, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah agree, it's a situation that doesn't come up too often, and it seems to deliver the facts without becoming a newspaper piece.Londo06 09:22, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you people on crack? Do you not read the papers, the mother fucker is at Galatasaray wearing a jersey and practicing. In fact he's even been through the physical examinations. Get a life.

Yes, it's pretty obvious the move has gone through, but there's no need to start making personal attacks and start spewing profanity. Vincent Valentine 15:59, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Why don't we just remove that disrespectful and blasphemous words? CassioLincoln (talk) 07:58, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Kewell is in Galatasaray Squad[edit]

Please see images of this night: [2]

all news agents say Kewell is in Galatasaray. where is the problem? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Qwl (talkcontribs) 22:39, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well it seems his agent is playing silly buggers because it is pretty clear he is in Instanbul. There is a video interview of him on this page with a Galatasaray scarf around his neck - Link Jared Wiltshire (talk) 04:11, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't matter what the club or news agencies say, until the transfer is official and the player himself confirms it then he is not a Galatasaray player. Skitzo (talk) 07:49, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

""On 3 July 2008, Turkish champions Galatasaray claimed to have signed Kewell to a three-year deal.[12][11] There was at that time no official confirmation of that fact, with the move being denied by the players agent.[13]"""

There is no need for this section? Can someone delete that part? It's locked for me.--Earthlinger (talk) 18:28, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that there was major controversy in the move, and that his agent initially denied the move is noteworthy in its line and a half format.Londo06 20:15, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted that section. There is no need for it at all. Nobody cares whether his agent denied the transfer for a couple of hours. It was clearly an unimportant statement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.229.236.217 (talk) 09:13, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why on earth does it have July 5th, "Harry's joined Galatasaray", then after it, July 3rd, "we don't know if Harry's joining Galatasaray"? I agree with the guy above, the fact that his agent denied the move is now completely irrelevant, he's moved to Galatasaray. W33nie (talk) 00:16, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well I might as well get rid of that paragraph then. If nobody wants to discuss it. W33nie (talk) 21:58, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Didn't bother because any questions on the inherent notability are answered above.Londo06 10:03, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Career Statistics Mistake[edit]

I am tired of re-editing career statistics of this page.

Everybody PLEASE do not enter total goal count in Personal Information table. That statistic only counts for domestic leauge matches and goals.

As a diehard Galatasaray and Harry Kewell fan, I always edit the page just after I arrive at home (back from the stadium).

So please do not bother yourselves, as you distort the correct information while you're trying to help.

If you're in doubt you can always see the latest information about Harry Kewell's game statistics here: http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/spieler/3241/harry-kewell/aufeinenblick.html

Pigin(!) English?[edit]

I see that some arrogant but ignorant people (from England as I've checked the IP) distort the page as they correct the language, from so called pigin English to real English.

First of all: It's pidgin, not pigin. (You love to despise, but you even don't know how to spell correctly.)

And another important point: Register yourself before you change the page. Or I'll revert the vandalism you caused every time.

Let's check the changes one on one: (I won't even try to tell the the difference between crowded and "large crowd". Is "crowded" really pidgin English? Or changing "the assist" to "an assist". There's only one assist per goal, so "the" should be fine. Anyway...)

We say is one of the most favourite players among Galatasaray supporters
The British is one of the more popular players among Galatasaray supporters
I have never seen anything sillier than this one in my life. "more popular"? More than what? There are a few favourite players for us, and he is one them, if not the most favorite one.
We say as he is shown love and excessive support in every game
The British as he has shown determination and team work in every game
Here's a grammar lesson for you (don't worry, it's pro bono)
Supporters show their love to him => (Passive) He is shown love.
She ironed the clothes => (Passive) The clothes were ironed.
Also another silly point: We love Kewell but he hasn't shown determination or team work so far. So your sentence is full of bullshit.

There are other changes which weren't deadly necessary (like removing the word "also") or correcting any grammar.

But I don't have time to argue about them all.

CassioLincoln (talk) 22:57, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • sigh*couldnt you just edit the article without giving grammar lessons?

Harold or Harrison?[edit]

what's his actual name? on this page below, it doesn't say "harrison" but "harold"

Inaccuracies in facts about Harry Kewell[edit]

On the Harry Kewell page, it says he made his Leeds debut in 2007, and apparently his Australian debut in 2008. Someone should fix up this part of the page. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.19.27.148 (talk) 03:08, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done and done. This is what happens when many different people vandalise the page at the same time. Ugh. Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)WIKIPROJECT ATHLETICS NEEDS YOU! 20:30, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tallies Wrong?[edit]

According to several sites, Kewell has had 8 Appearances this year for 3 goals? But it says on here he's had 9 Appearances for 4 goals?

Can someone clarify —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.39.254.158 (talk) 08:19, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
