Research[edit]

I looked on Ancestry for any records relating to Leavell and found the following -

According to his WWI draft card, in 1917-18 he was living at 411 William Street, Buffalo, New York, with his wife Marie. He was working as a janitor at the time.

I found his wedding in the New York, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1847-1849, 1907-1936. It occurred on 13 August 1912 in Onondaga, New York. He married Marie Alfreda Wilson, whilst his parents were Andrew and Alice Leavell (nee Gowan).

In the 1920 Census, he and Marie are living in Brooklyn. She was ten years younger than him and was a mixed-race woman originally from Barbados. They had no children at this time. He was working as a janitor.

In the 1940 Census, he is working as an assistant chemist.

According to his WWII, he was living at 1716 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, New York. His wife is listed as Frieda, I assume that's Marie Alfreda, and he worked for a vacuum oil? company.

I found a claim in the U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007 on 2 January 1946 for Leavell.

In the 1950 Census, Marie has passed and Harry's occupation is listed as keeping house. He is married to a Lillian, who was born c1904 in South Carolina. Skycloud86 (talk) 13:27, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
