Readd of Final Season Section

I put back the Final Season section that had been deleted earlier. The person who deleted the section stated their reason as...

"Final Season section not necessary. Is mentioned in the first section"

This is like saying that there is no point to the DVD section because it is mentioned in the "first section" that the show is on DVD. The Final Season Section gives the specific text of the "cancellation notice" so that the reader can make a decision for themselves on the validity of the statement.

As it says in the opening blurb, notices which were not actually cancellation notices have appeared before on Adult Swim and they later turned out to be gags on the part of the network. In that context the text of the announcement is absolutely relevant in allowing an interested party to decide what the nature of the announcement was.

You people take this "grain of salt" thing way too far with this network. The only one that was ever fake was ATHF, and that was so f'n obvious that there shouldn't have been any discussion about it. The show is ending and should be reflected as such until confirmed otherwise.12.206.114.132 01:25, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

That really isn't the issue. I have little doubt the series will actually end but you (and I, and anyone else for that matter) shouldn't make the judgement for people they should be allowed to make their own judgement based on the information provided.

The Nazi's were Evil but you won't find that in any Encyclopedia. What you'll find instead is a list of the Nazi's actions.

Bottom Line: if we aren't 100% sure we shouldn't state something as a fact in the Wikipedia entry and we should instead try to provide as much information as possible so people can make up their own mind.

The series will end. Learn to live with it and do not delete the Final Season? section again.--WhereAmI 04:28, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Now that I think about it, isn't this whole thing Original Research, and therefore shouldn't be allowed? 131.230.135.105 20:11, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes, it's clearly original research and not allowed in WP. hateless 00:56, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Should this be moved?

Should this article be moved to "Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law" with the lowercase "at"? I believe this is proper grammar, and if you try to create a wikilink with the lowercase a, it does not link properly unless formatted to do so. -Cyraan

Having the title screen in all caps makes it difficult to tell, but according to my Volume 1 DVD cover (specifically the back) the "a" is lowercase in the "at" twice when referenced to in the descpription. Your comment about grammar, however, is rather irrelevant as I've seen many titles disregard proper grammar and it should be true to the actual title. Considering the DVD cover, IMDb, and TV.com, I agree that it should be changed to lowercase even though adultswim.com refers to it with "At". --Kamasutra 21:07, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
After over a week of no response from anyone, I took it upon myself to move the page and fixed some links to the old page.--Kamasutra 11:15, Jun 18, 2005 (UTC)

Harvey Birdman Characters Section

This pages describing of characters is poor and shows the writers bias towards them. I know its only a tv show but the writer is placing his opinions of the characters in the article

I agree with you totally. I'd put a "sofixit" notice here, but I realize that the reason you haven't done so already is the same reason that I am not going to fix it: there are more important things to do than waste time on such a stupid article whose only source is the TV show it is about. --NoPetrol 15:37, 18 May 2005 (UTC)
Being a huge fan of this show, I have taken the liberty of completely deleting the "characters" section. Such character descriptions, which are basically a list of jokes disguised as continuity, are gratuitous, and completely contrary to the humorous point of the series, which has always been based on non sequiturs. I hope that my edits to the "premise" section serves as a better replacement. Captain Yesterday 22:42, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I think we should include the characters section, however it does have to be fixed and made unbiassed. Since people have spent so much trouble creating it, I have put it here on the Talk Page. If you are reading this, please edit this section to wiki standard so we can put it back on the main article page again. See Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not to see what should not be there and the Wikipedia: Simplified Ruleset to see what to write down (using a Wikipedia:Neutral point of view of course). -Hyad July 5, 2005 05:28 (UTC) "Did you get that thing I sent you?"

The character section has since been restored. To see how the section appeared originally, see this diff.

I took out the POV info and trimmed down the single-show gags and have restored the section. -- Norvy (talk) 5 July 2005 21:42 (UTC)

Whoa! I had no idea there was so much debate about the Characters section - I had added stuff on Harvey, Peanut and Sebben, but removed it and placed it in a new Notes section...which was gutted before I could even finish writing this. It's just as well - the show was brilliant for the first half dozen episodes, and then fell off into a dark, unfunny pit... thesmokingmonkey 06JUL05

The descriptions aside, the character pictures definitely need some work. They should at least somewhat align with their respective descriptions, yet they go far beyond the characters section and this just looks bad. Either the character descriptions should be lengthened, or more likely for some of them, the pictures should be made smaller. I'll try to get around to this eventually if no one else does first. --Kamasutra 05:50, July 22, 2005 (UTC)

Sorry to continue this character stuff but the character's name is not Azul Falcone but Azure, hence the joke that they can call him 'Blue'. I think the mistake comes about because of his accent. I haven't changed it yet because I can't find another source to confirm this, does anyone else agree?. 19 August 05 - Anon.

"Azul" is Spanish for "blue," keeping with Blue Falcone's frequent dips into Spanglish. Check the subtitles on a Harvey Birdman DVD. Captain Yesterday 17:10, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

I think we whould make the character section it's own page, so that we can expand further upon it, including the clients and classic characters from Birdman and other Hanna Barbera properties. Actually, with all the information held in Harvey Birdman, I think it deserves it's own wiki, moreso than Robot Chicken, which has one. I don't know how that whole thing works, though. I'm kind of new to the whole wiki editing scene.

Would anyone be opposed to me creating a page for just the characters? Anyone think so, say something here. If not, I'll go ahead and do it. Silent Wind of Doom 15:39, 29 December 2005

Please leave major characters here. They add to the quality of the article. I could see a separate "minor characters" page if we could agree on the definition of a "minor character." (Perhaps appearring in no more than two episodes?). Lefty 20:50, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
Well, we could keep the Lawyers and judges here, and put everyone else in a minor characters section. I'd planned on making a page for all the clients, but someone came along and deleted the page before I could do anything with it.Silent Wind of Doom 16:11, 29 December 2005
Dont stop trying

Major Characters

  • Harvey T. Birdman
  • Avenger (Sidekick).
  • Peanut (Office Helper)
  • Phil Ken Sebben (Boss)
  • Peter Potamus (Office Pain)
  • Mentok the Mindtaker (Judge who even basically had his own episode )
  • Myron Reducto (Friend/prosecutor)
  • X the Eliminator (arch enemy)
  • Judy Ken Sebben/Birdgirl (Phil's daughter)
  • Bear

They are the characters that Harvey seems to have a relationship with, friend or foe. Would anyone disagree with that list of major characters?--Whywhywhy 00:20, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Hiram Mightor was the judge for the first few episodes, and still makes occasional apperances.
Bear appears in almost every episode. Lefty 01:25, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
p.s. could you put a gray horizontal bar between Judy's two pics. It's difficult to tell that they are two pics.

Debby as well. She is in all episodes, and their tense relationship is usually well shown. Vulturo and Harvey also have an open relationship of rivalry.

I think you also have to include the Jesse Jackson character. He's not a major character, but he shows up somewhat frequently.

I agree. Someone has to throw in the bear. I have school tomorrow, gotta get some sleep--WhereAmI 05:49, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I've been wondering about that myself for a while now. Sweetfreek 07:18, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
You're only talking about Season Two here. What about Season One????

Question(s)

Q: Has anyone else noticed that Bear does not appear anywhere in episode 3x06 ("Beyond The Valley Of The Dinosaurs")???

Q: Does anyone know the name of the song during the live action sequence of the "Blackwatch Plaid" episode? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.119.22.103 (talk) 19:58, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Q: First off, let me say this is the best wikipedia page ever. Second, does anyone know who plays Harvey in the live action dream sequences? I suspect it's Gary Cole or Stephen Colbert, but it could be anyone.

Q: Does anyone know what the music is in Deadomutt, Part 2, where they're walking to the execution? It's really up-beat. I can't quite make out the words, my guess is "It was such a good night to {kiss, dance, ... love}". I'd be very very happy if anyone could locate that.

A: This is "It is Such a Good Night," by the Charlie Steinmann Orchestra. "It is such a good night to kiss / It is such a good night to dance / It is such a good night to scooby-dee-dooby-doo, scooby-dee-dooby-doo, scooby-dee-dooby-doo love." The only lyrics in the entire song, methinks. Captain Yesterday 03:37, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

Q: What show is Gigi originally from?

A: She is actually Gravity Girl, of the Galaxy Trio, from Birdman's original show Birdman and the Galaxy Trio RickoniX (talk) 12:15, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

A2: Her friends Vince and Terry are Vapor Man and Meteor Man, the other two members of the Galaxy Trio. Wrightaway 00:30, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Q: In the episode "Birdgirl", and later in "The Return of Birdgirl", Harvey says something to Birdgirl along the lines of "That's Research!" When they're driving in his car and Birdgirl presses a butotn the dashboard. Anyone know what he's actually saying?

A: "That's recirc", the air recirculation button found on most modern temperature controls in cars RickoniX (talk) 17:41, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Q: Does any one know where i can get a copy of the Charlie Steinmann song?

A: http://moviegrooves.com/shop/likeabreeze.htm you can pay with PayPal for currency conversion if necessary.

After months of search, seriously, this song was hard to find, here it is! http://www.ieattapes.com/library/032%20Scoobidoo%20Love.mp3 (Right click > Save target as)

Q: Does anyone know the lyrics to the theme song? Should they be posted in the article?

A: Birdman Theme

Who is the man in the suit? Who is the cat with the beak? Do you really want to feel him? Harvey Attorney Habeus Corpus Marvey Attorney! Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law... Yeah.

No idea what the Marvey thing is about. Probably just making up something to rhyme with "Harvey Attorney"

Thanks ... "marvy" is a slangy version of "marvelous" ... I've added it to Wikiquote

If I'm not mistaken, I believe it's actually "Bar the attorney," rather than "Marvy Attorney." Given the nature of Harvey's vocation, the legal terminology would make a bit more sense in my mind. I could be wrong, though.

I agree with the above statement, also I think 2 lines above that is Power of Attorney, not Harvey Attorney.

Q: Does anyone know the name of the rap song from deadomutt part 2?

Q: Does anyone know the name of the song played during the dream sequence with Harvey on the beach with a life size can of TAB soda? The clip can be seen here - http://www.ilovetab.com/images/tabbirdman.WMV

Im not sure, but this song has been plauging me also and I really want to know its title. The episode it's from is Shaggy Busted. Anyone have an idea? ~ AnklePants

A: I have found the name of the song. It is called Bubba Dub Bossa by Robby Poitevin. It is almost impossible to find but is available on the "Curb your Enthusiasm" soundtrack. Heres a link to a page that has clips, it is track number two. http://www.moviegrooves.com/m3u/curb-low-all.m3u

Q. Does anyone know why, between segments, a voice says "LUKA" or something like that? What is that referring to?

A. I believe the voice is saying, "Look out!" Wrightaway 06:19, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Avenger's Gender

There was an edit that claimed Avenger is female. Isn't Avenger male? Wasn't that why Harvey and Peanut were confused when they thought that Avenger had laid an egg (which turned out to belong to Peter Potamus instead)? Elwood00 T | C 13:39, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

Phil Clearly refered to avenger as he in "high speed buggy chase"

Quotes linking

I added the quote links to fill a little blank space in the character descriptions but they could look a little better i suppose but i cant put my fingure on how. I wish i could get the image to link to the quotes but alas.any thoughts--Whywhywhy 07:32, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

I've created some alternative formats for the quote links in the S&S section. However, I'm not sure we really want all these links. Lefty 13:03, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

you know lefty its a little annoying when someone goes threw your edits and changes them all just a bit like they have to put their mark on them(including the episode article) --Whywhywhy 03:29, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

tha's wikipedia. see the note below the edit box: "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it." Lefty 11:21, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Okay, that was a bit terse. Let me try again. We're here to build an encyclopedia. Pride of authorship does not belong here. All of the changes I made I feel improve the encyclopedia -- either by adding information or making clearer the information already there. If you feel that any of my changes detract from the encyclopedia -- or even are neutral -- I would appreciate your pointing them out. Lefty 13:00, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Obviously i did my edits to improve the encyclopedia as best i could(with a advanced diploma in multimedia i only intented to imporve design), do you think everyone else it out to wreak wikipedia? Look I wouldnt care if two diffrent people came along and edited the major changes. Respect others edits, let things roll. See how they go. Anyway whatever, just telling you cos if you do this 2 a idiot hes gonna cause you grief.--Whywhywhy 12:56, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Quote links

Most editors on Wikipedia seem to like text links rather than icon links. For example see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television#Infobox, with ratings....

The situation above is for image links in templates with copy right issues, A very diffrent situation and almost irrelevant --Whywhywhy 01:32, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

NO, the debate was over using text link, such as "TV-14", versus a gif that reproduced the image. Most of the objection were to the appearance of the gif. Lefty 01:37, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Reason to keep

  • Fills up blank space
  • Makes it easy to navigate between the articles
  • Its easy to tell your not just going to quotes aka distinguishable from normal wiki links
  • Breaks up the monotony
  • Benefits of a template without taking up 2 much space

(the reason i didnt keep the early version was that i was worried people might click the image but now a solution has been found ) so it benifits usability, navigation and design --Whywhywhy 01:30, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Some vertical whitespace is easier on the eyes. Don't see how the pic is easier. Not at all obvious it even is a link. What monotony. Don't understand your last point.
Also your quote links are misaligned -- they go all the way to the left instead of being indented with the rest of the character description. Lefty 01:36, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
Why should the quote links have a special "hey, look at me!" appearance in the first place? Are they more important than the links to Birdman and the Galaxy Trio or sexual harassment? Lefty 02:20, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Voice Credit for Blue Falcon

Are you sure it was Maurice LaMarche who did the voice for Blue Falcon and not George Lowe? He sounds an awful lot like Brak's dad. --Happylobster 19:04, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

TV.com lists the voice actor as LaMarche. It probably sounds the same due to the fake Hispanic accent. Ryulong 09:54, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
It would have a good inside joke considering the history Harvey had on Space Ghost: Coast to Coast.

LaMarche did many of the voices on the show, including practically all of the clients

perhaps some mention should be made of the cameo birdman had on Space Ghost Coast to Coast, which I believe was the first time he was called 'harvey', as an analogue to 'Tad Ghostal'

Yes, Harvey was first given his first name on Space Ghost Coast to Coast

Reducto and Booty

I don't think the "booty" link under Reducto is the right kind of "booty." I remember an episode in which Reducto was obsessed with a large-butted woman. So much so that he couldn't bring himself to reduce it. He found himself making it larger throughout the episode.

Maybe there is a larger Reducto/Booty tie-in that I (the caual observer) am missing. Thanks, guys. Great article. Ben 20:09, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Spoilers

You know, people really should't update character descriptions wiith major plot developments until the show airs on TV. That, or there should be a spoiler heading. Grr. Mshake3 22:12, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Original research

Will anyone be willing to defend the Characters section? There are some major problems with them, for instance, they're very awkwardly written, wordy and too long, have spoilers (why are spoilers necessary for a character sketch?) and chief among them, is a work of original research. It is too opinionated and includes what appears to be original analysis written by the article's editors. WP:OR mandates such original research be removed, and I'd like to see if anyone would like to say anything about the section before someone like me throws a machette at it. hateless 05:04, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Yay! Machette! Ben 23:59, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

The spoiler mark is there because the descriptions reveal certain plot developments. Plus someone added those developments before the episodes aired. Should the section only include general descriptions of the character? 131.230.135.105 19:59, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

For the benefit of brevity, the policies of Wikipedia, and the love of the English language, yes. hateless 00:59, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Sebben's Silver in Judo

The article (and tv show itself) states that Phil Ken Sebben won the silver in Judo in 1962. However, in the episode Deadomutt (part 1), Sebben states he's 34 (2 years younger than Harvey). The latter seems to be more credible given his..physique. Editor's Mistake? -ali It's a cartoon. They're not always going to be accurate with this stuff. 12.206.114.132 18:50, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

No the information is correct. While the show does takes place in modern times it is a cartoon. The show also states that Harvey is the great grandfather of George Jetson - but he can't. -Anonymous Jules Fan

Yeah, I would agree with the "it's a cartoon about superhero lawyers- disbelief must be suspended" thesis. -- Kicking222 21:04, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
