Hasubanans...[edit]

Are there more than two hasubanans in the class? Is Sinomenine a hasubanan? It appears so but the article says it's a morphinan. Nagelfar (talk) 23:17, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The difference between Hasubanans and Morphinans has to do with the binding of the piperidine ring - in Hasubanan it is fused to the bridgehead carbons of the fused cyclohexane rings, producing 2 quaternary carbons; in the Morphinans, the piperidine ring bridges only the central cyclohexane ring, producing 1 quaternary carbon.
