House of Commons[edit]

Because the precincts of parliament are technically a royal palace, it is exempt from the law - see Palace of Westminster - however the MPs voted by a majority of 200 to ban smoking there as a gesture of solidarity [1] Youknowyouloveit 14:55, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm proposing that Smoking ban in England be merged into the Smoking ban section of the Health Act 2006 article. I think that the Health Act 2006 is the correct place for this to be merged into because it is the article about the smoking ban legislation, what better place to have this text about the ban and it's implementation and aftermath?. After the merge this page would then be converted into a re-direct. Any opinions? - X201 12:27, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree. The smoking ban is just one part of the health act, but the most notable part. Also, the smoking ban legislation is composed of a number of statutory instruments in addition to the Health Act. I think it's better left where it is. --Darksun 13:11, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
