Untitled[edit]

My edit WAS true!- Cal Sheridan

The introduction looks good. I would consider adding the second opening paragraph to her career just to add more length. Also, make sure to add any awards, nominations or accomplishments. Arp1317 (talk) 16:48, 15 November 2015 (UTC)Arp1317[reply]

Hey:

You seemed to have a giant block of text and then several sections with little information for example:

Early life and education

Rae was born in Venice, California.

Grew up in Boise, Idaho.

Graduated from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington with a degree in Arts in Film and multi-cultural studies.

You could insert the first block of text here (text below) "Heather Rae is an American film producer, director, and actress. She was born on October 1st, 1966 in Venice, California but grew up in the mountains of Boise, Idaho. She is of Native American decent of the Cherokee Indians. Heather is a 1990 graduate of The Evergreen State College located in Olympia, Washington."

The second part about her marriage and children could be put in the "early life and education" section if you gave it a new title such as "About Heather Rae" You could also introduce her child and career as an adjunct professor in this section.

You could reorganize the list of films she has been on in a filmography section and make a chart of the film, year, and role (director/actress)

Also in your block of text you go into detail about the films, perhaps another section here like "notable works"

I think the best way to improve this would just be changing the format and organization, otherwise it looks good.

Ancestry[edit]

It appears that Rae has been involved in a fair number of projects, including films, that hinge on her claim to be half Cherokee. Recent published research, as reported by the Guardian, suggests that, in fact, she has no Native American ancestry. Since Native American concerns impinge to a a large extent on her career, it seems to me that this Wikipedia article should say something about the matter. I have just reverted an attempt to censor this information in the article - by an editor who may have a COI with the BLP. So be vigilant ya'll. SinoDevonian (talk) 15:04, 9 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This line seems very unnecessary and seems like an attempt by someone who is or works for Heather Rae as an excuse for lying about her ancestry for decades. I don't want to remove it without some guidance first, but this sounds completely out of tone for the rest of the article and others like it: "Rae worked over the course of her career to make a difference for Native and Indigenous artists including years of mentoring, producing and advocacy." It did read like puffery. I checked the cited source for the keywords and the source did not support the line. So I cut that and did a bit more cleanup. Her role in promoting the careers and greenlighting projects by non-Natives passing as Natives, as actors and in other roles in production, has made a notable impact. If it's sourceable (and I'm pretty sure it is), that could use some expansion if you want to look into it. Best wishes, - CorbieVreccan 20:24, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
