Speedy deletion[edit]

This is a legitimate stub from a good source, the Dictionary of Canadian Biography. I am a little amused by the "seven minute speedy" proposal that took place here. That would hardly be time to read the link provided, cross check it with some other sources, and make a reasoned decision to propose a speedy delete. I suspect that some of this process may have been by-passed in this case.

I intend to improve this article at a measured pace if, in fact, it is not deleted. I believe that the material already provided makes an assertion of importance which should preclude a fast removal. The subject in question was considered to be a brilliant journalist and satirist in his time. He also made substantial contributions to publishing during his career. The time taken to post this message could have been better spent somewhere else on Wikipedia.

Remember, there is no prize for the "quickest deletion" and this type of "speedy" wastes everyone's time and good humor. --Stormbay (talk) 23:03, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
