I've removed some parts:

Lax attitude of the citizens of Cologne:
Not encyclopaedic, no WP:RS. ("Kölner Klüngel" is a different matter, a kind of nepotism).

Cölln (Spree):
AFAIK only a hoax-like speculation of some websites. The Kopisch poem ist very similar to the Weyden story and kopisch knew that story. The double 'l' way of spelling was also used for Cologne.

Proverbial:
Seems at least outdated to me. Please give a WP:RS.

Translation:
Thomas Keightley used the original term "The Heinzelmänchen", the single 'n' being probably an error. The "elves"-translation by Margaret Hunt and Edgar Taylor are translations of the term "Die Wichtelmänner". See Talk:The_Elves_and_the_Shoemaker.
