Encyclopedic style? Reliable sources?[edit]

"It has been documented that MacMurchy held extreme dehumanizing and racist beliefs. [...] Her actions led to [...] "feeble-minded", a pseudo-scientific category that stood in for the racialized, [...] White female social workers were trained in the surveillance of the population with a particular focus on immigrant communities. Their occupation was professionalized partly because of "the need to have trained experts police new arrivals."

The tone of this paragraph is definitely not what I would consider dispassionate or encyclopedic. Let's take a look at the references.

Who is this Robyn Maynard?

From her personal website: Robyn Maynard is an author and scholar based in Toronto, where she holds the position of Assistant Professor of Black Feminisms in Canada at the University of Toronto-Scarborough in the Department of Historical and Cultural Studies.

Also, take a look at the kind of stuff she posts on Twitter.

This article (well, really, just that paragraph) needs a cleanup, and we need to find a less biased source, since we should only be dealing with biographical information here. Multiple Mooses (talk) 07:58, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
