List of resorts/countries[edit]

How would it be possible to create a list for this. There seems to be a heli skiing operation anywhere that you can resort ski these days and then if their is not, why don't you just hire a helicopter and then go skiing after using the heli-copter? Making of list of these places would be like trying to make a list of places you can walk. I say remove the list. ...maelgwntalk 12:03, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Getting from helicopter to ground[edit]

After reading this article I can only speculate about how someone gets from the helicopter to the mountain. Do they jump out of the low-flying copter with their skis already on? Does the helicopter land and then the skier gets out? With skis on or off? More information would improve the article. --Cam 16:55, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to ask again how the skier gets from the helicopter to the mountain. It would be interesting to know if helicopters actually land, and if so, what kind of preparation for a landing site is needed, if any. --Cam (talk) 01:52, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The pilot sets the helicopter on the snow and occupants exit the machine in the normal way, often using the skid of the machine as a step. Care must be taken as the surrounding snow may not be firm. The heli-guide exits the machine first and assists guests as they disembark. Skis and poles are carried in baskets attached to the outside of the helicopter. Usually heli-operators pre-build small level landing pads of packed snow and set flags to mark the pad, to indicate wind directions and strength and to give the pilot better depth perception. On any day, these pads may be covered over by fresh snow, but the landing procedure will be the same. Depending on the terrain, guests will walk (crouched) clear of the machine while the guide unloads the skis. Alternatively, the guests will crouch beside the machine until equipment is off-loaded and the machine lifts off. -- Lockie 8 Aug 2008

Russia[edit]

I removed the infringing and POV text about Russia. However, I assume this is a real thing, so it would be helpful to put it back in usable, non-infringing, NPOV form. Superm401 - Talk 05:13, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
