I think the album The Devil Isn't Red needs to be fixed. The correct title, as you can see on the album art should be "The Devil" Isn't Red, with distinct quotation marks around The Devil.--Jkdeadite 00:14, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Add in these genres to the article and you're set[edit]

Sure, Hella has noise rock, math rock, experimental rock, those are the acceptable genres. Where did you get progressive rock and post-punk in the article? I honestly do not hear any post-punk influences at ALL. Then, you would have to note that if they're a punk band by definition, not post-punk, with what you're indicating... With Hella, add in instrumental rock (for the majority of the albums, or 3/4 of their discography is highly instrumental), avant-garde (you cannot describe - they sound is like Mr. Bungle and other bands of that nature).

Regarding progressive rock, you have odd-time signatures, sure. The second note is long winded song that go over 6-7 minutes. I will admit that to a degree (it's not on every album that this occurs). They have to follow a common theme in their albums altogether for themes. Hella doesn't have this. They don't have versus-chorus-verse with progressive rock. Yes, they do have verse-chorus-verse when Hella when they apply vocals - that's out completely. A high amount of focus/attention on instrumentation to make their songs coalesce with each other smoothly. Yes - Hella is mainly an instrumental band in their whole discography. There are other definitions for progressive rock. So progressive rock for Hella is 2, maybe 3 (yes) - 2 (no)

The long winded songs on their albums/EP:

The results for progressive rock are: only on one album, and only on certain tracks on certain EP/albums in their entire discography. The majority of them are not long winded songs at all, it's just the time-signatures that makes them be this way, personally. Even people consider them hard to listen to, because how they're performed. I understand that completely because people think that death metal or some punks genres are unlistenable, people are going to consider this unlistenable. You can put progressive rock if you want to, but I think it's just a mixed opinion on the issue for Hella.

With instrumental rock this is self-explanatory. The majority of their discography is instrumental rock. Check. Avant-garde. They have experimental, noise rock, math rock and other genres in one song - probably more to add into the mix. You cannot define them in a simple sentence, they're on the same level as Mr. Bungle - they're indefinable. For Wikipedia's standards, they're going to be mixed on it, so it might be out already.

Post-punk? DO they have a sense of repetition in their song structures? Only on certain tracks does that make them post-punk? No, not completely in my book, it has to be on EVERY track; not occasional. Are they influenced by punk (that's how you can tell if they're post-punk)? That's an interesting conversation right here with Hella. I don't hear any punk in their music, personally. If Hella does have punk it's literally hard to tell, in all honesty. You also need a sense of electronica to add into the mix. Hella has electronica via the form of synthesizers in every song. Again, I'm mixed on the idea of progressive rock and post-punk in their whole discography.

Proposed merge of There's No 666 in Outer Space into Hella (band)[edit]

The stub for this album was redirected to the band's page about three months ago. The redirect was undone but I really don't see how the album is notable enough for a stand alone article. Prior to just reverting it back as a redirect, is there anything there worth merging into the band's page? Ifnord (talk) 14:20, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
