Patriotic song - uncharacteristic?[edit]

It is not really unusually for a song of this period to express support for the war. The country charts were full of hundreds of patriotic Vietnam war songs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Justinnnn (talkcontribs) 14:40, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Public support for war[edit]

"public support for the war eroded" - this is a very generalised statement. Not really sure what is meant by public support. The public opinion polls by 1966 showed that while more and more people started to think that the war was a mistake, they actually supported presidential policy on escalation. Also, in the early 1970s, lets not forget Richard Nixon's "silent majority". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Justinnnn (talkcontribs) 14:43, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Satire?[edit]

The song has lyrics supporting the war, yes, but weren't their slight hints of satire within the lyrics? Uranium Spoon (talk) 11:11, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
