Lyda-Lott[edit]

I have noticed that Lyda Construction (now Lyda Swinerton), although I am sure a fine organization, has been inserted into several San Antonio realated articles. This article in particular is peppered with references to this company and borders on plugs for the contractor. Typically in encyclopedic articles the contractor of a project is not referenced. If any referrences to those or companies involved in a project's encyclopedic article it is usually the architect or developer/owner. I think that the references to the general contractors should be removed from the San Antonio articles. IceBRG 23:41, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seems most of them came from this spree from two years ago. I would agree that the general contractor on a notable project is probably a little too much detail, but I'd hesitate to clear it out in most instances. Here, though, every single edit was a 'Lyda' references of some sort, so it would seem theres a COI at work. No objections if you want to sweep it up. Kuru talk 01:37, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Kuru. I will do some sweeping. Best.IceBRG (talk) 19:30, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why would anyone think Wikipedia is an encyclopedia?! Of course there is nonsense and non-fact sprinkled among misinformation... this is not an encyclopedia! If you want and encyclopedia goto Britanica. Wikipedia is a public chalk board and anyone can pick up the chalk -- it is NOT an encyclopedia. 99.27.202.207 (talk) 01:17, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alleged lawsuit[edit]

I have removed this comment from the article: "The eminent domain in this discussion is, in part, false as citizens owning the land were not paid anything for the land. This should be documented in a lawsuit, Pauline Morales Riojas v the City of San Antonio". It could, perhaps, go back in if references are provided. Biscuittin (talk) 22:26, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hemisfair Park Area Development Corporation[edit]

In 2009 the San Antonio City Council under the leadership of Mayor Julian Castro created a non-profit organization - "HemisFair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation" to generate ideas and oversee the re-development of the former fairgrounds which has seen little development since 1988.[1]

In 2012 HPARC completed the renovation of three indigenous structures on the site and now serve as offices (Edgar House), conference center (Carriage House) and support services (Edgar Dependency) for HPARC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Worldsfair68 (talkcontribs) 02:55, 23 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't mean to add this here, sorry for the mess:) Worldsfair68 (talk) 03:57, 23 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hemisfair Plaza 'a gift from the city'[edit]

CONCERN: Due to the fact that, 1. the government confescated private property of citizens using the practice of eminent domain, 2. and the enormous amount expenditures attained through the taxation of its citizens,

PROPOSITION: It is in correct order to replace the sentence stating that the Plaza was "gifted" by the city (government) to the community. This gives the false illusion that government was the communities provider. The government are our employees.

Therefore, credit tax-payers as those who "gifted" their community with the park. The government took their land. The government took their money. Please don't let it appear as if the government was their provider.

Conclusion: The Hemisfair plaza park was not "a gift given by the city to the community". It was "a gift given by the community to the city". 2603:8080:5203:D4FB:C4D0:80D7:FC11:D4BA (talk) 14:08, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
