Regarding the name of the Barrows, rather than the explanation put forward on the article, I was always led to believe that the name shared an etymology with the other local Barrows (including the fell near Keswick ) meaning promontory or any hill/ridge Slipdigby 09:35, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Population - Can we have a confirmed population total for Heysham, as the two on the page (one from the wards and the other seemingly from the population of Morecambe and Heysham combined minus the population of Morecambe) contradict themselves. 88.108.215.218 (talk) 04:21, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Under noteworthy residents: It is said that the Radfords-of-22-children (25 or 26 altogether, counting her miscarriages) lives here, but you should check for viable reference. They are said to have the most children in all of England. Village[edit]

Heysham is a village. Please do not change the description to "town" without showing good evidence. Thanks. PamD 06:34, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Village, area, etc, but I've never heard anyone local call it a town: it's an ancient village centre, a quite separate Port, and some sprawling housing around. Our Wikipedia article has called it a village since the article was created in 2003, though "small village" changes to "large village" at some point. @DragonofBatley: changed it to a town with no edit summary or discussion, in 2020, and then changed it back again in 2023, and changed it to a town again on 24 January 2024. No-one else has ever called it a town, though there were three years when no-one noticed, or objected to, the change. I don't think it should be changed to town again without evidence and agreement. As for the population of 17k, note that Heysham North ward is within the area of Morecambe Town Council, to complicate matters further. The local heritage association says "Heysham is an area of land ....". PamD 21:31, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
