"The guitar solo, which, for most of it, was played on just the high E string, has been ranked 8th greatest rock guitar solo of all time". I removed part of this sentence, as a large part of the solo is played on other strings; it is simply the most memorable and impressive-sounding part of the solo that is played on one string. I kept the fact about it being ranked 8th best of all time, though. --Paddled 04:59, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this song being referred to as just rock music, but "Smoke on the Water" and "Space Truckin'" are being referred to as hard rock and heavy metal? --Ben9201996 (talk) 17:52, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Because "Smoke on the Water" and "Space Truckin'" are both better than "Highway Star", so shut-up! --Snuffleupagus 17:58, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is there really a need for the "structure" section? It reads like a child's summary of a novel. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.23.53.78 (talk) 18:15, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In a 1997 Japan interview R. Blackmore remembers that this song was written in Switzerland (I only have a youtube ID 'z7r_4CijBWk', starting from ~ 4.12), unfortunately the Reference [4] link is broken so R. Glovers version cannot be checked. Andreas Suebicus (talk) 20:00, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Genre[edit]

Why is heavy metal not after hard rock? This is clearly part metal. Other songs form the album and the record itself has heavy metal listed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.81.33.59 (talk) 02:23, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
