Social Anxiety Disorder[edit]

Not really an edit or anything, but just curious that she "has social anxiety disorder." Call me uninformed, but from my understanding the very definition of the disorder would prohibit her from doing what she does. 99.245.76.26 (talk) 11:04, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're wrong.

Despite not signing your comment, going to need a bit more information than that. The symptoms preclude such... outgoing behavior. 99.245.62.92 (talk) 02:39, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Social anxiety disorder doesn't always affect all forms of social interaction. In the interview cited in the article she says it's harder for her to have a conversation with a stranger than to have sex with them. Epbr123 (talk) 03:16, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, having known her for several years, it is clear that pornography is an outlet for expression. Otherwise, she is very shy and introverted. Morbidthoughts (talk) 17:15, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Social Anxiety Disorder causes anxiety and other debilitating behavior during certain social interactions and relationships, but doesn't necessarily preclude all social behavior, including sex. Many SAD sufferers can actually be very outgoing on a basic level, until something triggers the anxiety. There are actually quite a few SAD sufferers (Barbra Streisand, Trent Reznor, Ricky Williams) who have successful careers. It is entirely plausible that a pornographic actress suffers from the disorder, especially considering sex as a job involves very little social weight. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.171.176.69 (talk) 16:00, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Until my illness forced my retirement, I worked as a counselor with many people who suffered from social anxiety disorder. Because of my experience, I was referred to this article on Hillary Scott. First of all, Scott actually states, "I consider myself a paradox in a lot of ways because I am very sexual and I have this amazingly high sex drive but at the same time I have social anxiety disorder." Someone reading this article would likely assume she's has been diagnosed with this condition by a psychiatrist. It is no more possible for this woman to have SAD and make 500 sex movies in less than 7 years than it is for a quadriplegic to set the world record for the 100 meters in track. That such a prolific porn actress would have SAD is the most absurd thing I have ever read on Wikipedia and I'm deleting it.TL36 (talk) 17:30, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
How do you know for certain that she's not been diagnosed? You don't make edits about someone based on your professional opinion because wikipedia prohibits original research. Morbidthoughts (talk) 02:07, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
"How do you know for certain that she's not been diagnosed?" The same way I can safely conclude that the world record holder for the 100 meters in track wasn't a quadriplegic at the time of his performance. My comparison above may have seemed liked hyperbole but it wasn't. Doing either with the given handicap would be impossible. The interview that yielded Scott's SAD remark has other sensationalistic quotes that make the entire interview a dubious source at best. I might get back to this article if time and my health allows. For now, I don't want to start an edit war.TL36 (talk) 03:32, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway - is a health claim and not a WP:RS - so its been challenged and removed so better not to replace it without support at the WP:RSN or at the thread at the current thread at WP:BLPN. Off2riorob (talk) 16:40, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Moved information[edit]

I have moved the following information from the namespace to the talk page.

far too graphic

In an interview with Luke Ford, Hillary says of her requirements of a guy to sleep with:

"When I'm not getting paid to do it? Any large cock. I won't accept anything else.""

The relevant guidelines from Template:Female porn biography are:

  • "Do not use vulgarity or sexually extremely explicit terminology."
  • "You really shouldn't add "turn ons" and "turn offs" in the section, nor other things that can be considered unbecoming of an encyclopedia."
  • "quotes from famous person(s) regarding the individual the article is focused on;"

I removed the information because it is explicit, essentially discusses her "turn ons", and is not a quote about her from a famous person. Olessi 17:29, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Propose Merger[edit]

I've taken the redirecting Jessica Sweet article and expanded it. I dont feel that the Britney Rears article really applies to Jessica Sweet anymore since Hillary Scott has taken over the role but I believe that there should be mention to Jessica Sweet on the Britney Rears/Hillary Scott merged article. Hillary Scott (pornographic actress)Hillary Scott (actress) – Per WP:CONCISE and WP:QUALIFIER. The latter specifies "to limit the tag to a single, recognizable and highly applicable term". The Disam page has only 2 entries and both are disambiguated by name, a singer and an actress. Scalhotrod (Talk) ☮ღ☺ 03:21, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose by longstanding article stability and consensus across category. Both Hillary Scotts have imdb entries, though the singer has evidently only acted in music videos, but all the same reliable sources don't describe "the pornstar Jane Doe" as "the actress Jane Doe", our dabs and categories are supposed to be recognizable and consistent with common WP:RS usage. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:32, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, again, pornography can be given its own respect as a successful area of media. However, there is no reason to confuse performance in relation to sex acts with acting. Suggest Hillary Scott (adult entertainer). She has not been noted for any performance beyond porn. GregKaye 11:04, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 27 April 2015[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

Moved as proposed; there is a clear consensus in favor of the proposed move, and it is noted to be the more WP:CONCISE title. WP:RECOGNIZABILITY does not seem to play into this, since if there were no other "Hillary Scott" this title would be at Hillary Scott with no disambiguator at all. WP:OFFICIAL was raised in the context of another source which was pointed out to be a mirror site, and therefore not actually an official source. bd2412 T 02:58, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hillary Scott (pornographic actress)Hillary Scott (actress) – Unnecessary disambiguation. Per other move discussions for actresses such as Aja, Chloe and Savannah, there's no need for additional disambiguation, unless there's another actress with the same name. The latter already redirects to the former. Fortdj33 (talk) 13:23, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - There is a significant difference between an actress, who has gone through extensive training and education to perfect her craft, and a pornographic actress, who is simply performing the act of sex on screen - albeit with a bit more skill and artistry than the average person. If Ms. Scott were to perform in mainstream media on a regular or recurring basis, I would possibly support a move. In this case - I do not. Hobbamock (talk) 16:40, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hobbamock, your stance seems reasoned and logical, but their are porn actors and actresses who have formal training in acting and other performance arts. Furthermore, there are plenty of mainstream actors and actresses that are talentless hacks with no training, but we don't decide Notability based on their talents or lack of. These people are professionals who do their jobs in much the same way that a mainstream performer does. Long production days, constantly starting and stopping of filming, and scene setup and resets; if you think that the average porn scene is the result of just turning on a camera when people are having sex, you are mistaken. --Scalhotrod (Talk) ☮ღ☺ 17:59, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
When you have just undiscussed moved the entire category at Special:Log/Rebecca1990 to argue "Consistency" is a bit self-fulfilling isn't it? These moves should be reverted and go to RM based on how print sources describe the porn actor profession. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:34, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - Per WP:CONCISE and the rest of the similar moves taking place for the variety of reasons being cited ranging from the unnecessary disambiguation to the bias and derogatory usage of the term to segregate these performers. --Scalhotrod (Talk) ☮ღ☺ 17:59, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - Although she works in the porn area there's no need to have "pornographic anymore", IMHO "Actress" is fine. –Davey2010Talk 19:17, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per WP:DAB. These 3 RMs above have gone the other way than other RMs, and against the long-standing stable use of category as dab. There has been discussion at WT Pornography, there have yesterday been several dozen undiscussed moves, but that is a WP:LOCALCONSENSUS out of line with descriptive dabs such as (speed skater) (game designer) (motivational speaker) which follow general sources. This bio is simply not known as "the actress Hillary Scott" just as no other porn actor or actress is known as "the actor X" "the actress Y" in general sources. Just as (landscape architect)s are not known as (architect)s. That's the way English language sources are, that's also the way the first line of this article is "Hillary Scott is... pornographic actress" unquote. What guideline at WP:AT says to replace a dab which is how the subject is known with one which is not how the subject is known? In ictu oculi (talk) 01:30, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per WP:CONCISE.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 16:25, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, already extensevily discussed in Aja, Chloe, Savannah and Serenity. No need of a scarlett letter in the title per WP:PRECISE. Cavarrone 17:07, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment click on site:http://www.xxxhillaryscott.com/ and the title for the main page is: "Porn Star Hillary Scotts Official Website" click on the main page you read the title
Hillary Scotts Official Website
Porn Star Hillary Scott
At IMDb the Hillary Scott page mentions her as an "actress" but, while "actress" appears on the bio page twice, "porn" appears six times.
At iafd the Hillary Scott page presents her as a performer. (nothing wrong with that)
Her facebook page presents:
About Hillary Scott (pornographic actress)
Actor/Director
Hillary Scott (born February 3, 1983) is an American pornographic actress.]
...
the link goes to a page called "Porn Stars".
Oppose as per WP:OFFICIAL AND WP:Recognizability
Suggest Hillary Scott (porn star)

(actress)/(pornographic actress) RfC[edit]

An RfC which may affect this article's title is currently taking place (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Pornography#RfC: Should a person who has appeared in exclusively pornographic films be described as "(actor/-tress)" or "(pornographic actor/-tress)"?).
