Orphaned references in Hinatazaka46[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Hinatazaka46's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "oriconsales":

  • From Keyakizaka46: "Oricon Ranking Service 'You Big Tree'" (in Japanese). Oricon. Archived from the original on December 2, 2018. Retrieved July 29, 2015. {{cite web}}: Unknown parameter |dead-url= ignored (|url-status= suggested) (help)
  • From Ima ga Omoide ni Naru made: "【オリコン上半期】乃木坂46、合算アルバムでも1位「挑戦的なアルバム」". Oricon News (in Japanese). June 18, 2019. Retrieved July 24, 2019.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 12:58, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Done: Removed for now since can't find source. Added certifications instead.   Ganbaruby!  (talk to me) 08:18, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

New Edits[edit]

Hi, I'm trying to add a history section on this Wiki page recently. I mainly used the Japanese wiki pages as my references. Here 's my sandbox address and the content that I'm planning on adding is under the history template: [[1]] I would like to hear suggestions before I actually start adding things. Please reach out to me if you have any suggestions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kanemura Miku (talkcontribs) 23:31, 27 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kanemura Miku: Good stuff! I really appreciate the effort you put into this content. Improvements could be made with formatting and prose (using longer paragraphs, duplicate links, and general sentence fluency), and there might be a little too much detail. Other than that, it's pretty good! I can help you with cleaning up your Wikitext syntax if you would like as well.   Ganbaruby!  (talk to me) 08:21, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion criteria for non-music works[edit]

I am aware that the Japanese page lists every single possible form of media the group appears in, but per WP:INDISCRIMINATE that cannot be the case here. Below are my two criteria for which are to be included.

  • The members must be actually present in the work. This means that Hinatazaka46 Sorairo no Mirai e is not okay, since none of the members were heavily involved in the making of the book.
  • The work must include a majority of the members available at the time. This means Tachikogi is okay, but Miho Watanabe's photobook is not. Similarly, Dasada is okay but Kyōfu Ningyō is not.
  • The work must not be a passing appearance. This means radio shows like Recomen or a single appearance a magazine like BLT Graph are out.
  • The work must not be promotional. This means the Mechakari and Coco Ichibanya ads or out.
  • Hinatazaka de Aimashō and the Bingo! series should be the only variety shows listed. (6/23) Anything on TV should be a show and feature Hinatazaka46 as the main subject. The program must be a regularly broadcasted program for at least a "season" (~10 episodes). No TV specials, guest appearances (MSta), or advertising for non-Hinatazaka46 products (Coco Ichibanya, Mechakari). Notable appearances (first Kōhaku) may be placed in the History section instead. Award shows (Japan Record Awards) belong in the "Awards" section.
  • (6/23) No concert listings. Notable concerts (first Tokyo Dome) may be placed in the History section instead.

WP:RS applies, as always. These points are up for discussion, so if you disagree, let me know.   Ganbaruby!  (Say hi!) 15:11, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • The problem with a lot of this stuff is that it's usually promotional material, part of a campaign, and since for K-pop fans existence means notability, every single step in a marketing campaign is reported. It obviously works--everything, from TV reality show appearances to coffee table books is now reported in these articles, and it's crazy.

The moment you say "the work must not be promotional" we're in trouble of course: the very existence of a lot of these groups and sub-groups is promotional, from the get-go. Consider releasing a single in four different versions with four different covers and remixes and whatnot--that's promotional too, explicitly set up to monetize as much as possible. So I don't think that is a rationale that is going to work here, as much as I agree with the spirit of it. But your other points seem very valid to me. Drmies (talk) 15:16, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Drmies: Hmm, perhaps that was poorly worded. I was trying to go after advertisement appearances and such with that one. I've tweaked it a little above.   Ganbaruby!  (Say hi!) 06:01, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I feel you--it's hard to draw lines in a world in which everything seems to be commercial. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 15:44, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Ganbaruby: There's a few points where I don't understand your reasoning without explanation: Why shouldn't a one-off special which has Hinatazaka as its only focus and features most of the members be included? Why should a series contain 10 episodes and 6 shouldn't cut it? Why shouldn't an very Hinata-centric advertiesement campaign for an external product, like Aeon Card does with Sakurazaka and their mini-talk shows, be included? Korn (talk) 20:49, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Korn: I wrote this a year ago to try to "formalize" just what the works section should look like when we were dealing with a few eager new users trying to add everything (that ended up being an SPI case). It is not meant to be a formal guideline of any sort. We do have WP:INDISCRIMINATE, but consensus among editors determines where exactly to draw the line. I'm open to discussion on any specific work you're thinking of.  Ganbaruby! (talk) 21:06, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
