Inconsitency[edit]

There is some inconsistency here in the film titles--both English and transliterated titles are used. I think the Hayao Miyazaki article does a good job with this, using the familiar English titles in the prose. However, in the filmography section, there are Japanese-language and transliterated titles. Alas, I don't know Japanese... but I love Wandâfuru raifu. -- Rolando 12:15, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Film title[edit]

I added a page for the film listed here as Even if you walk and walk, but it seems the far more common English translation of the title is "Still Walking". Not sure who gets to judge that/set up a redirect or whatever. -- hostile17 (talk) 00:07, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is Koreeda a stage name?[edit]

In the "making of" documentary for Still Walking (film) there is a visitor who asks of Koreeda :Kore-eda is an unusual name. Did you make it up yourself? Is it a stage name?" He answers "Yes" to which she says "Really?" He goes on to say "It's odd for a director to use a stage name." He would not say what his real name is. He leaves the scene to deal with something else on the set. The visitor talks about finding out his real name. Kirin Kiki replies that she thinks Kore-eda is is real name.

We don't know if Koreeda was humoring the visitor or if that is his stage name. --Marc Kupper|talk 08:19, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unless there is a reliable source that it's a stage name, there is nothing worth putting in the article. There are lots of highly unusual surnames in Japan. JoshuSasori (talk) 10:03, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

apostrophe or hyphen?[edit]

The article uses both. How does he romanize his name?--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 02:04, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Modified Hepburn transliteration, which is what we are supposed to use on Wikipedia, does not use hyphens in this way. At best it should be an apostrophe (as in Jun'ichiro), but Modified Hepburn does not demand a use of apostrophes in these cases. So the Library of Congress Authority File specifies "Koreeda" as the correct romanization (Kore-eda is listed just as a variant): [1]. But I think it is clear that Koreeda himself has preferred "Kore-eda", as you can see from his company's website: [2]. Michitaro (talk) 04:22, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
