General[edit]

This section contains repetitive information The fist half of the article could be cut- it contains far less detail.

References?[edit]

Inline references would be nice. Thegreatdr (talk) 17:21, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree - I'm working on it. Behemothing (talk) 03:57, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reorganization[edit]

This article was a real mess - it jumped centuries, had no organization, contained false information, and repeated itself. I'm working on reorganizing and adding more complete information along with footnotes. I've reorganized the existing material, removed the redundant bits and will work on adding further citations. The history of Martinique is very important to both Caribbean and European scholarship, and I hope to make this article more readable and useful. Behemothing (talk) 03:57, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well it has been about 14 years but I am hoping to continue working on reorganization and references (see section above), particularly given the substantial amount of research that has been published over the last decade and a half. Behemothing (talk) 18:44, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

1789-1794[edit]

Should'nt it be something about the history about the history betwen 1789 and 1794? That was a chaotic time in the history of the Island, with reviolutions and rebellions, which led to the British ockupation. I don't know any details, but it would be interesting to read! Now, the article just jumps over it. --85.226.235.178 (talk) 14:14, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bias?[edit]

This article reads like Britain generously gave away Martinique to France. Surely that wasn't the case. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.132.242.1 (talk) 12:49, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jun 09, 1790, Civil war broke out in Martinique[edit]

I saw a "This Day in History" thing that had a short statement "Jun 09, 1790, Civil war broke out in Martinique." Yet, this isn't mentioned in the Wikipedia article. I know nothing about this topic, can anyone write more? ClarkBHM (talk) 02:04, 10 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

600 AD or 1200 AD?[edit]

Two Wikipedia articles claimed they arrived at very different dates, that article in question claimed the Caribs arrived in 600 AD while the article below says they arrived in 1200 AD...
