When Tammy Gooding was Holly Wood[edit]

Common sense probably. No, really. It was during the days when Tammy was travel reporter for the breakfast show and Les Ross asked her on air to reveal her real name, and I think between them they decided to drop the - by then outdated - showbiz name. - Lee Stanley 19:31, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Elliot Webb Story[edit]

Doctor Love[edit]

I see that someone removed my addition of Doctor Love from the list of Past Presenters. I guess they might have believed it was a piece of vandalism, but I can honestly say it wasn't. Doctor Love (which was almost certainly not his real name) actually was a presenter on BRMB. He presented a programme called The Love Zone between 1993 and 1996. The show was on at weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) between 10pm and 2am and started when the station was revamped after it was bought by the Capital Group in the summer of 1993. Doctor Love left BRMB early in 1996 following another revamp. Unfortunately, I have no reference for this information, so it may not be possible for Doctor Love to be included. Incidentally, I would be interested to find out what Doctor Love's real name actually was. If anyone remembers him and knows this, please let me know. B-R-M-B dose NOT stand for...[edit]

Birmingham Radio for the Midlands and Blackcountry. Absolute rubbish and non-verifiable. The correct answer is Birmingham Broadcasting. Neasden Villa 16:15, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Content?[edit]

I would like to question the importance or notability of the section Current Schedule. Is it really neccessary to have such content? Why should this particular radio station have its entire weekly schedule put up? If there is anything special about it, by all means, keep it in. But since there is nothing mentioned about why its schedule is notable, I'll be removing it.
The list of Past presenters is a massive list which gives absolutely zero information to the reader. No chronological series, no reason asserting notability. So I'm going to trim this down. Only those past presenters with WP articles will be left in, remaining will be removed. Of course, if there is any reason for their inclusion, something about their stint with the station that merits an encyclopedia mention, then by all means, put that individual back.

Looking forward to all editors' ideas about this. If there are no comments in 48 hours, I'll be going ahead with the proposed rework of the page. xC | ☎ 03:56, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the above comments on the Current Schedule section and would argue that if people want to know the station's current schedule, they will go to its website. I suggest that the section should be renamed Current Presenters and then contain a list of the current presenters. This would tidy up the section quite a bit and is actually what has been done with articles about some of the other stations from the area. Check out Saga 105.7 FM for an example of this format.

As for the Past Presenters section, I have to confess to being a past contributer to this, but I also feel that it is now getting overlong. I am from the Birmingham area and remember many of the presenters who are mentioned, but as far as I am aware, a good percentage of these have now vanished into obscurity. Exceptions to this are probably,

Paul Bryant, who went on to present a long running show at Heart,
Carlos, who did likewise,
Harriet Scott and Paul Hollins, who have been presenters at Heart 106.2 in London,
Nick Snaith, who now presents a chart show for Heart alongside Melanie Sykes, and
Murray J, who was a Virgin Radio host.

Therefore, these people should remain in the article, and should perhaps have articles written about them if enough information can be found to demonstrate their importance.

I've done an initial cleanup of the list of past presenters. I have excluded the individuals listed above, as they don't have WP articles. Once they do, even if they are stubs, feel free to add them back. I'll be doing my best to research the people currently on the page, and the list is likely to be trimmed down only to those presenters who have made a notable contribution to the station, or were well-known for some other reason related to it. Current newsreaders and travel presenters[edit]

I've removed the list of current newsreaders and travel presenters as they don't really add anything to the article. Besides, one of them, Jo Grant, actually linked to the Doctor Who sidekick of that name from the early 70s. Paul20070 12:52, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ALso removed the current line up for reasons discussed by other editors in the section above. Maybe the thing to do here is to have is to briefly mention one or two notable presenters if there are any at the moment, then to merge it with the list of past presenters. Any ideas anybody? Matt Brown and Sam Mann[edit]

An anonymous user (or perhaps more than one) has added the above two names to the list of past presenters on a few occasions recently, and each time they've been removed as non-notables without their own article. However, I'm wondering whether Matt Brown should go in. I've come across an article for a Matt Brown with a career in radio. This guy has appeared on 95.8 Capital FM and 96 Trent FM. Given that BRMB and Capital are owned by the same company, it seems possible that Matt Brown may have been on here too. Can anyone give a definite opinion on this subject? Thanks. West Midlands coverage[edit]

Just tried to correct a small problem. Someone removed West Midlands from the Broadcast area pointing out that BRMB doesn't cover Wolverhampton which is part of the West Midlands. BRMB actually covers large parts of the West Midlands county, but not the geographic West Midlands or the West Midlands conurbation - all of which are slightly different. I've linked to West Midlands (county) for now, but it might not be appropriate to keep this and we may need to be more specific. Birmingham and the Black Country might be an idea, although parts of the region that are sometimes considered as being in the Black Country also fall outside BRMB's catchment area. Incidentally it is possible to receive BRMB on an FM radio in large parts of the midlands - from Northampton to Hereford to Tewkesbury, and as far north as Stafford. Orion Changes[edit]

is this the same radio station that was fined for a dangerous contest?[edit]

A Birmingham radio station has been fined £15,000 after four people were left with severe frostbite after a competition stunt went wrong.

BRMB challenged contestants to sit on blocks of dry ice - carbon dioxide frozen at temperatures of -78C - to win tickets and back stage passes for a music festival in the city.

The incident resulted in four people being treated in hospital for severe frostbite, with three of them requiring prolonged stays.

BRMB name to return[edit]

According to Radio Today, the BRMB name returns on 4 September when Big City Radio rebrands to the name. As there are not two radio stations associated with the name, does anyone have any thoughts on how we go about making the changes on here.
