Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because this is an article about a newly-formed band. More information is going to be added, and references will be added. --TheShaunster (talk) 22:21, 14 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

^^ I agree with you. As the band grows more information will be added to the page. At the moment we don't know a lot about the band members but as time goes on they will give interviews and reveal information. They only have two singles out to date, and several covers, this will grow over the coming months and years. So I think its better to start from the beginning with the page and add to it. Its like with a page for a TV Series, as episodes air more information is added to the page. So I second keeping the page intact the way it is and adding to it as time goes on as the band release more material.Liam74656 (talk) 13:44, 5 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: no consensus. No consensus the capital T is enough for WP:DIFFCAPS in this case. Jenks24 (talk) 21:01, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hometown (band)HomeTown – Facebook, YouTube and Twitter all refer to them as HomeTown.[1][2][3]] Unreal7 (talk) 21:43, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Hometown serves as a dab page, there is no reason to think a 2014 band should be the primary topic of a very general name (ps the article even lacks dates like that and has about 2 or 3 RSs). Pincrete (talk) 21:56, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose it should redirect to the disambiguation page -- 67.70.32.190 (talk) 05:06, 27 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hometown (band)HomeTown – There were a couple of moves around 15 July 2015 by User:In ictu oculi, but the article calls the band HomeTown, and HomeTown redirects to it and appears always to have done. I think this should be moved over the redirect, and this title become an {{R from incorrect capitalization}} and {{R from unnecessary disambiguation}}. I can't see that "HomeTown" has ever targeted Hometown or elsewhere. 62.165.198.73 (talk) 20:26, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sources do seem to be split but indeed this seems to be the only usage of the CamelCase version. Also this was the title until July 2015 so its not clear why the move above was closed as "non consensus" but left as is, it presumably should have been reverted, though maybe if was felt that no consensus should mean no primary topic but in any case the original title still redirect here anyway. Crouch, Swale (talk) 05:04, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose we have been here before and newspapers are still calling this band "Hometown" without camel case so it is evident that camel case does not sufficiently indicate "(band)". Belfast Telegraph "Hometown", Indepedent.ie "Hometown". Titles are supposed to help readers - see WP:CRITERIA. In ictu oculi (talk) 12:36, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Note also that HomeTown (company) is getting almost as many article views as the defunct boy band. In ictu oculi (talk) 12:52, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No objection to camelcase + (band), Support alternative HomeTown (band) but August 2019 Business Standard: From Home Centre to HomeTown, rivals gear up as IKEA steps into Mumbai. HomeTown (company) is a major furniture retailer in India, one of Future Group's portfolio. This is the Indian Wikipedia more than the Irish Wikipedia remember, so we should defer to a significant Indian retailer rather than a defunct Irish boy band. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:39, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Comment it does look like most references list the band "HomeTown" with the 'T' capitalized. Maybe the page should be at HomeTown (band) as an alternative? @In ictu oculi:--Ortizesp (talk) 16:30, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Comment (as nominator). HomeTown (HomeTown album) is so spelled, so HomeTown is preferred for WP:CONSISTENCY and per MOS:ARTCON, "proper names use the subject's own spelling".
If we wish to use a disambiguating phrase, we have Hometown Band (which perhaps should be at The Hometown Band per WP:THE) so "(band)" might not be best.
When User:In ictu oculi says "we've had this before", the 2015 move discussion was not implemented and no editor in seven years has picked up on that, so I would favour the status quo of the band being the PT for "HomeTown". The newly-created redirect HomeTown (company) targets the recently-renamed FabFurnish, and since the company has only very recently been renamed it seems unlikely that readers have been searching that way: nevertheless I added a redirect hatnote at the band.
There is an open requested move discussion for FabFurnish and it may be that it is the PT for "HomeTown" as a going concern, I get the feeling the proposal to move it to "HomeTown (company)" instead of the base title was merely because that title was apparently occupied. I've added FabFurnish to the DAB at Hometown. 62.165.198.73 (talk) 02:32, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No need to have HomeTown (company) in the 'other uses' template, too much clutter there. Thanks for adding it to DAB. GreaterPonce665 (talk) 03:34, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We don't need a template at all because the article has (band) on it. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:30, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
