Merge from Hopkinton (CDP)[edit]

I think that the article Hopkinton (CDP), Massachusetts should be merged into this article. I am not sure why there are separate articles in the first place, as this is not something you see regularly on WP. If there need be separate mention of the CDP vs. the overall town, then it can fit within a section on the main Hopkinton page. The two articles on their own are sparse enough as it is, without separating them. I've already put the suggestion on the CDP page. —Godheval^{T C W} 15:45, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of historic homes[edit]

I see we have a very long list of historic homes in table format. The table is sortable. We can't split it up without wrecking the sortability. There is no template to wrap the table into columns such that overall sortability is retained. If we put it in a bulleted list sortability also is lost. And yet, the table is so long it breaks up the article. I therefore would like to run this proposal by you: offload the table into a new article, "List of historic homes in Hopkinton, Massachusetts." In that way the article can be indefinitely long and entirely sortable. What do you think?Branigan 14:38, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

Reconsidering the 2012 merge[edit]

I have been updating the CDP articles in Middlesex County to the 2020 census populations and discovered that Hopkinton's CDP article was merged into the town article in 2012. (See discussion above.) I was surprised to discover that I supported the move back then. Since then, I have grown to appreciate the value of individual articles for New England CDPs and have developed a format for the articles so that readers can understand the distinction between the CDP and the town. In almost every other town in the state where there is a CDP article that shares the town's name, and where the CDP covers an area smaller than the entire town, there is now a separate CDP article. I propose restoring the separate Hopkinton CDP article to match that structure and updating to highlight the difference between the CDP and the town.
