Grammar Fix[edit]

"In December 2012, Hopsin had hinted on his Facebook and Twitter pages that him and Travis Barker are working on a project together, further details on the project were yet to be released." That should be "he and Travis", not "him". As you've probably noticed, Funk Volume has been going through some things lately. It started the first week of January, when Hopsin revealed his desire to leave FV, citing issues between himself and the label's co-founder, Dame Ritter. Following that, Jarren Benton revealed that he was leaving Funk Volume to link up with Master P and No Limit. The label wasn't have the best week.

Today the drama continues, and things aren't looking up for FV just yet. Hopsin took to his Facebook page last night to declare Funk Volume "officially dead," putting blame on Dame Ritter.

The full Facebook post reads,

Funk volume is officially dead now thanks to the monster Damien Ritter. There is nobody else to blame at all. I have officially separated myself from everything and I am fully independent now. It's very sad but idiots like dame wanna control too Much and now he end up destroying a great fuckin team. Having a crew like FV has been my vision since I was 14 years old and this man just destroyed it. Jarren, Dizzy, Swizzz, Dj Hoppa and I are all still on good terms. They will forever be my brothers and I support them in whatever they do. I will let u guys know the full story soon. You know ama keep it RAW for real. Ain't no holdin back. Im so sorry to all the FV fans. There's a brighter future though.

On Instagram, the rapper asked for fans to alert him of anyone they know who has a FV tattoo-- "I got something real special for youguys. You won't be ignored by me," he says.

In “Ill Mind of Hopsin 8,” the Funk Volume co-founders lays some unkind rhymes towards co-founder Damien Ritter before declaring he’s moved on to his own company Undercover Prodigy. Hopsin seems liberated (if a bit angry) by his separation from Funk Volume, and spoke at length with HipHopDX about his split with Damien Ritter. Hopsin originally founded Funk Volume with Damien Ritter in 2009, and announced his departure from the label via a social media post back in January.

The song itself does pretty good job of explaining the specifics of Hopsin’s complaints, including Ritter’s gambling problems, his conflict of interest being the manager, label owner and accountant, and “shitty” distribution deal with Warner Bros. However, Hopsin says the problems were only apparent for “a month and a half, two months prior to the actual break up.”

Speaking on his new outlook with his own company Undercover Prodigy, Hopsin is upbeat. “To be honest, it’s a better situation for me. I wish the other guys, I hope they come back to my side so we can work things out ‘cause I would love to create a whole new platform and usual arise together like we were doing, but Damien might get in the way of that.” Apparently Damien, as manager, holds the rights to most of the label’s back catalog – including some of Hopsin’s own work.

Hopsin doesn’t plan on releasing a full-length project in 2016, but does reveal he’s currently working with TY Dolla $ign and King Los. “I will say that I’ve made more connections in the past two months than I made within the whole time being on Funk Volume.” We’re excited to see what Hopsin can put together now that he’s found freedom in his current situation.

Clarification on Hopsins view on Dick[edit]

I think it should be clarified that Hopsin does not blatantly hate dick and/or everyone who uses it. It is pretty misleading because the reader will misinterpret it as so. Should go into detail on why he isn't against dick and how he loves the effects it leaves on people and how people get addicted to the point they can't go on with their lives, rather than the dick itself with no logical explanation.

==First Arrest== Hopsin, was arrested for Vandalism as part of a senior prank at James Monroe High School. http://articles.latimes.com/2004/jun/29/local/me-vandals29 This is the reason so many of his attempts to enter Canada were denied.

Associated acts[edit]

Shouldn't Insane Clown Posse be listed cause Hopsin is in the newest Insane Clown Posse album The Mighty Death Pop 50.82.64.29 (talk) 02:03, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RAW is a reference to Saw?[edit]

I fixed the link (which was pointed at Saw instead of Saw_(franchise), but there's no source or anything... and the album page certainly does not mention it: RAW_(Hopsin_album). Does anybody know the deal? I'm pretty sure we're going to want that to be cited. I don't know much about Hopsin, just started checking him out today. 65.254.164.68 (talk) 13:47, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's time the pic was updated, not really sure how to do that though.

Ok for some reason, his Facebook was removed. But also funkvolumeforums.com has been removed, this used to be hopsinforums.com and Hopsin has stated a few times on Twitter that this is the official forums for Hopsin & FV. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HopNation (talkcontribs) 06:01, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kelsey Grammer?[edit]

Why does the page link to Kelsey Grammer? Seems spurious to link the two with the citation not supporting any link. 76.21.107.221 (talk) 20:58, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed several unreliable sources per WP:BLPSPS: unreliable sources (IMDB, youtube, blogs/self-publications, and the like), can demonstrate neither the significance of any particular content, nor can they primarily support content of living persons' biographies. Gazing At The Moonlight?[edit]

Why did the Gazing At The Moonlight page get taken down. I think it's definetly gained enough popularity over the past couple of years to have its own page with tracklist info and all of that — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.230.168.177 (talk) 23:16, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Label Dates[edit]

According to the article Hopsin left Ruthless Records soon after his album released in October 2009. Then it states he released a mixtape for his own label in June 2009. It seems like the timeline is slightly messed up. Can someone verify this. I watched most of the video in the reference and didn't hear any comment about starting the label in June 2009. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.44.156.202 (talk) 05:33, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I adjusted the articles dates as the label was founded before he left Ruthless and the mixtape was released very shortly after the founding of the label. STATic message me! 06:01, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Positive Influences continued?[edit]

Shouldn't we put the fact that Ill Mind Of Hopsin 6 is basically about him almost losing his "homie" because of Meth? Could use it as an example when it ttalks about his hatred for drugs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.75.3.251 (talk) 05:46, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Life Section After Funk Volume[edit]

Actor: Murder in the First[edit]

Go to Hopsin's youtube channel. He is co starring in the TNT Show "Murder in the First" on the second season. I believe this should be added to the page under his acting career--2601:543:C001:3F9:0:0:0:E679 (talk) 05:41, 5 June 2015 (UTC).[reply]

Racism and Sexism Against Asian Women[edit]

On October 12, 2017, Hopsin released a music video for his new song "Happy Ending", which portrays him visiting an Asian massage parlor and being given a massage and sex by the Asian women in exchange for money. The video and song received backlash as it presented Asian women in a racist and sexist manner, portraying them as being fetishized submissive sex objects, which are common negative stereotypes surrounding Asian women. The video was further criticized for making light of a far serious issue, as female sex workers in Asian massage parlors are actually victims of human trafficking and modern day sex slavery. The original upload of the music video was quickly removed from YouTube.[2][3] Uilk (talk) 03:34, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hopsin
Born (1998-04-24) April 24, 1998 (age 26)

Lance Dominik Nicholas (born April 24, 1998 in Los Angeles, California), known by his SFX Mask, Costume, White Eye Contacts and stage names, Hopsin, is an American rapper, hip hop producer, actor and music video director.

Hopsin was signed to Ruthless Records but left later due to lack of support and financial compensation. Hopsin was angry at the owner Tomica Wright and claimed that she didn't know what she was doing. He stated that his first studio album Gazing at the Moonlight was released without his consent and that he wasn't even able to listen to the mastered version before it was released. He left the label when Tomica said "He doesn't do his job as an artist".[1] Hopsin would found an independent label called Funk Volume with business partner Dame Ritter. He also acted as a minor character in an episode of That's So Raven, made a guest appearance in the movie Fame and starred in the independent movie, Bomb The World.[2]
