Falls direction and sun reflection[edit]

The waterfall faces the east and so cannot possibly reflect the setting sun. I would assume that the falls are actually reflecting light from red clouds in the east that are sometimes lit up by the sun setting on a clear westerly sky. Can a reference be found that more accurately explains the layout of this waterfall and its occasional "orange falls" appearance? --tolchocker  talk  16:25, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In the recent NPR story (http://www.npr.org/blogs/pictureshow/2012/02/21/147206195/from-waterfall-to-lavafall-yosemites-fleeting-phenomenon), a photographer describes it as "backlit" rather than reflected. tolchocker  talk  —Preceding undated comment added 17:18, 22 February 2012 (UTC).[reply]
