Is it just me or have none of these comments actually been confirmed? AiselneDrossel 09:28, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brazil[edit]

In Brazil the single at #1 in vale 10 (Play TV) and top mix (Mix TV)

CD[edit]

Just wondering what remix of "Girlfriend" is supposed to be on this, as the one with Lil Mama and the Submarine's Mix are on the "When You're Gone" enhanced CD. The versions of "Girlfriend" in different languages are on the CDs that are sold in whichever country speaks that language. So there is really no other version that would be on this single CD. I would have thought "I Can Do Better" (acoustic) would be included.

And like the other comment says, none of this stuff is confirmed...it's pretty much all guessing (especially the track listing). 24.65.196.35 21:49, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't notice this before...but where in the world has anyone heard of "Nobody's Know" o_O and "It's All Because of You"? 24.65.212.107 23:03, 24 August 2007 (UTC) interesting...[reply]

Charts[edit]

What are all these charts at the bottom of the article, I have never heard of most of them, 'Top 40 Latino'??????? There aren't even any sources for them, and Hot isn't exactly a Latin song. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.210.16.230 (talk) 13:19, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What the hell[edit]

The person who wrote the music video info and lyrical content thing is kinda off. What is wrong with you? I'm really sorry but i don't think there's that much meaning behind the song hot and it definately doesn't say anything about her friends not liking her boyfriend. the song is about having sex in a closet. it's a little sappy and love like in some parts but you took it a little far. once again NOTHING ABOUT HER FRIENDS NOT AGREEING WITH HER RELATIONSHIP. it's almost scary to read. sorry. you definately didn't pay much attention to the song. and who are you to judge if the dress she wears in the vid is stylish. AND why are you like "she wears a shiny green outfit when her true feelings show" or whatever. that's creepy. the song doesn't have that much meaning. SEX, CLOSET, HOT. that's about it! FIX THIS ARTICLE UP! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.127.193.43 (talk) 23:17, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, no need to shout. Now, I agree with you that that Music video and Lyrical content sections are mostly unreferenced and do sound like somebodies opinion; that said, replacing it with another unreferenced opinion "about having sex in a closet" is not a good idea. 20I.170.20 (talk) 16:19, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Um, and how are you so sure that it isn't about that? Maybe the person who added that read into the song deeper than you can. It's not totally incorrect, though it does assume a few things. Generally, it's fairly accurate. As the above replier said, you can't exactly edit it to say it's a song about "sex in a closet". It seems fine to me, I'm even a bit impressed. 124.43.201.235 (talk) 12:30, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I heard somewhere (can't remember where) that Lavigne wrote the song for her then-husband and wanted it to be a love song without all the lovey dovey soppiness. I know 100% that I heard this from her (probably on youtube) but I doubt I could find a source. Would it be okay to put into the article?Zylo1994 (talk) 13:48, 25 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not without a reliable source, unfortunately. (WP:BLP & WP:RELIABLE) ~ [ Scott M. Howard ]:[ Talk ] ~ 16:28, 25 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's quite obvious that this song is actually about being dominant in a relationship? "Lock you up in my closet", "...because you're allowed", "I can make you say everything that you've never said"... even the video has a little bit of S&M themes, e.g. spanking stick.

Haha yeah. I'll try to find some article about the song because I am sure that she wrote it for her ex-husband. Zylo1994 (talk) 17:23, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm the person who wrote that complaint at the top like 3 years ago, and I still stand behind what I wrote for the most part. It's just worded very strangely. The person who wrote it uses too many adjectives, which makes the description of the video sound unprofessional and a little strange. It does have a slightly perverted vibe to it (just the style of their writing). I was like 14 years old when I wrote that angry comment above, and it does sound kinda ridiculous. Sorry for the yelling, but I can't believe this hasn't been fixed up 3 years later. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.201.135.25 (talk) 04:49, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Genre[edit]

In the article, no "genre" was added, but it clearly is "pop-rock", as evidenced by Allmusic link and Jam! link. I'm improving the article right now, can I add the genre "pop-rock" into the article, since we have already 2 sources to confirm it??? FanofPopMusic (talk) 14:58, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's Pop Rock. Plus, the article itself mentions it.

--Luchador619 (talk) 14:43, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That's glam rock with it's stomp, sound and choruses. And slighty power pop. That's too hard for pop rock, that's non-alternative and so slow for punk-pop.. Song also have some new wave roots, but i have no idea why critic's don't see that and "label" song so dumb. :\ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mr. LuxeTH (talkcontribs) 19:59, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian 2008 chart position[edit]

This edit added a new reference for the Canadian 2008 chart position. However, the page it links to ([1]) doesn't make it clear that the 42 position is from 2008. I have undone the edit, restoring a link to a list that is clearly labelled "2008". However, I've tweaked the URL so that it jumps straight to the correct page in the listing. -- John of Reading (talk) 07:43, 14 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Meaning of the song[edit]

The song is not about her boyfriend it is about being caught up in the entertainment business and then how men expect things from girls, because they are allowed." Once your in you can't get out. She is not 'hot' she is HOT: angry.
