Now with refs...[edit]

I put in some actual references. There was no mention of the daughters in my sources. One of them said: "Children: 1 Son". If anyone can find a RS on the daughters, we should put them back in - for now, I'll take them out:
Hilde Meisels
Gertrud Dresel
Also, is "ethnicity" the correct place to put "Jewish" in the info box?? Not sure about this ...shouldn't it be "Religion"? Anyway, since it was not displayed on the page, I took that out as well. His Jewish background is obvious from the section on Early life.Drow69 (talk) 16:10, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"We won't abandon the Fatherland in the hour of danger."[edit]

Was this really Haase? The only source I could find online that was not a mirror of this article was one saying it was articulated by Friedrich Ebert, and that Haase reluctantly supported that line. 107.1.184.218 (talk) 18:37, 4 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

At least such a direct quotation needs a source. HerkusMonte (talk) 17:49, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Haase read this out in the Reichstag as a declaration in the name of the SPD fraction on 4 August 1914. "Wir lassen in der Stunde der Gefahr das eigene Vaterland nicht im Stich."
