Opening comment[edit]

'Debreziner' is the German word for the type of kolbasz from Debrecen (in Hungary). The hungarian name is Debreceni.

Kielbasa, Kabanossi, Debreceni and Kolbász[edit]

Kielbasa is the name of a certain variety of traditional Polish sausages, but can vary from smoked sausages to fresh sausages, dried sausages, salami-style sausages, etc. Kabanossi are traditionally dried pork sausages which are sometimes sold as Polish salami but are very different from those. Debreceni are dried Kolbász with a strong paprika flavour; The Debreziner sold in Germany are not from Debrecen but are Paprika-flavoured wiener-style sausages which are known in Hungary as Paprika-Frankfurters. I therefore strongly object to the merger with Kielbasa since they have nothing to do with each other, although I like both. Jorgenpfhartogs (talk) 13:58, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kielbasa and Kolbász[edit]

The names may soud similar and some may think that the product is the same but they are not att all the same thing. Kielbasa is a Polish sausage, known and even produced in USA, Kolbász are different types of European sausages, like Gyulai, Csabai and so on, made in Hungary and they are even well known in Germany. Hungarian sausages[edit]

Kolbasz is not a Hungarian variant of Kielbasa or only a regional variant of Kielbasa. Kielbasa is an English word borrowed from the Polish language, but that does not mean that this is the word wich should be used för the Hungarian sausages. Those are called Gyulai kolbász, Csabai kolbász, Debreceni kolbász and so on. Kolbasz is quite simply the word for sausage in Hungarian language (like the word "wurst" in German) and the article contains informatiomn about Hungarian sausages. You may change the title to Hungarian sausages if you want. But there are articles on other countrys sausages too. There are articles on American sausages Australian sausages Austrian sausages Basque sausages British sausages Bulgarian sausages Chilean sausages Chinese sausages Croatian sausages Cuban sausages Dutch sausages English sausages Filipino sausages Finnish sausages French sausages German sausages Italian sausages Portuguese sausages Puerto Rican sausages Scottish sausages South African sausages Spanish sausages Swedish sausages Swiss sausages Taiwanese sausages and Vietnamese sausages. Those sausages usually are mentioned by their countrys original names on the variety of the sausages they have. like Biroldo, Chorizo, Mustamakkara, Ciauscolo, Cotechino Modena, Frikandel and so on. Should you merge those articles into the kielbasa too?

Kolbász → Hungarian sausages —

Move I see you created this page as a fork from Kovbasa/Keilbasa. The reason that the Slavic names are those there is that there is plenty of evidence showing those words are used in the English, including the Oxford Canadian Dictionary. Unless there is similar evidence that Hungarian sausages are refered to by their Magyar name in English, then we should move this page to the English equivalent, per WP:USEENGLISH. --Kevlar (talk • contribs) 02:27, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
