Copyvio[edit]

I deliberately copyvioed the BBC site as on tv article Merlin series 4 and 5 and probably the rest they are copied every week from the BBC and there was a debate Talk:Merlin (series 4)#Copyvio and Talk:Merlin (series 5)#Wikepedis:Copy-paste and they believe they can. My argument is actually against copyvvio that is why I only put it as a temporary synopsis to see what reaction it would bring. I am against copyvio as it just makes the summary just a tv guide because of the question marks (do encyclopedias have questions?) they usuallly contain which is a giveaway to copyvio and is rife throughout wikepedia. I will add I do not beleive in giving the whole plot away on six line summary. REVUpminster (talk) 07:21, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is a clear violation of policy. See Wikipedia:Copy-paste. In 99.9% of cases, you may not copy and paste text from other sources into Wikipedia. Doing so is a copyright violation and may constitute plagiarism. Always write the articles in your own words and cite the sources of the article. Copyright violations are often speedily deleted. The Merlin people are wrong.
Just leave it blank until you've actually seen it and write your own summary. We don't need to provide summaries of upcoming shows. WP:NOTTVGUIDE And aside from any rules, as you've noticed, the "summaries" from broadcasters are basically teasers, not real summaries. Barsoomian (talk) 08:12, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I do normally wait until I see it but Hunted is wearing me down. Only two episodes to go!!! I am writing Brazil with Michael Palin but I upset a Rio resident because of Michael Palins comments on crime in the city. But my first rule is not to delete such as at Merlin unless obviously vandalism because you just get into endless conflict and life is too short.REVUpminster (talk) 09:56, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you wanted to make an issue about Merlin, write it up at WP:CP. They would be put in their place. I don't support the extreme interpretations that the WP:CP does myself though, but I do have a general suspicion of using descriptions of things that are basically advertisements. Anyone who wants that can just get them directly from the networks, we don't need to duplicate them. I have only seen the first ep of this show, so I won't be adding spoilers to it, you may be happy to hear. But I reserve the right to do so if I do get around to seeing the rest. • I know we have had words about spoilers but my way of handling say the death of a major character is to write with disasterous consequences for said character. An example is episode 13 of Thhe Listener List_of_The_Listener_episodes If you ever see that in my edits someone has died. With Hunted there are a minimum of 3 killings an episode and it is not easy to be subtle. REVUpminster (talk) 10:44, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In my experience, Copy/Paste is ok, as long as you use it as frame to rewrite and reword it so that it is not a copyright violation. MisterShiney 20:31, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Docter Goebel[edit]

Docter Goebel is indicated as a Dutch engineer. But judging from the name, the man is probably Germen. De terms Dutch and 'Duits' (German) are often mistaken one for the other. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.126.192.161 (talk) 11:48, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Proposal[edit]

I propose that Sam Hunter (TV series) be merged with this article. Under Wikipedia standards we don't usually have articles for cancelled TV series that are proposed but never produced (I can think of maybe one special exception related to Star Trek). Since it has been confirmed that the Sam Hunter spin-off is not happening, the content of that article should be merged with this one. I'm placing the appropriate tags. 68.146.52.234 (talk) 14:42, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proceed as there are no stated objections. GenQuest "Talk to Me" 15:01, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
