My Visit to Hwaaksan in 1967[edit]

I was sent on a Military TDY to this incredible place in the early fall of 1967. It was my second trip to South Korea. It is the highest point in South Korea and you can see a long way over the DMZ into North Korea. The Valley to the East was known as MIG Alley during the Conflict in the early 1950’s. The South Korean Military had facilities and operations there. It was much smaller in those days than in the current Google Earth Photos. The South Korean People were always very nice, helpful and grateful to us for our support during the conflict.
