Come on, guys[edit]

Come on, guys, this page needs some serious work. Anyone want to get out there and help work on it? I'll add whatever I find as I go along, but I can't handle the page all by my lonesome. - JWhitt (talk) 14:58, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm really liking how this is turning out so far. Its not as quick as I wanted, but its still turning out pretty well, if I do say so myself. Keep up the good work, guys! - JWhitt (talk) 20:16, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Getting better and better everyday, if I do say so myself... Of course I mean the page, not me! I'm not THAT vain... :-D - JWhitt (talk) 07:21, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This article is pretty much set now, just have to wait until it falls from charts and it will be perfect, unless subsequent news appears for some reason. - JWhitt (talk) 05:06, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just want to mention, on the page it says that they at the beginning of the video they are on a Spanish-language TV show but they guy in the background is clearly speaking French. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.213.71.220 (talk) 21:21, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

French and Spanish are extremely similar, so a few words may confuse you. Anyways, as they walk out, you clearly hear the name "Pablo" mentioned and also as the band walks completely into the room, I clearly hear Spanish. Thanks for questioning it, though. - JWhitt (talk) 00:57, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please[edit]

Please don't remove the cleanup tag or the stub tag until this article is fixed up and expanded. Otherwise, it will remain in its small and mistake-filled form for longer than usual. - JWhitt (talk) 20:05, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that we are getting more sources, and everything unsourced has either been removed or fixed. Keep up the good work, guys! - JWhitt (talk) 07:07, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genres[edit]

Please, do not change the genres without proper sources. Without sources, its better left as the base genre listed on Fall Out Boy's wiki page. (located here) - JWhitt (talk) 05:17, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for leaving the genres as they are, guys. Remember, if you happen to find an unbiased outside source (that means not by the band and typically a review by a respectable site/person/critic/etc.), feel free to add the genre stated and then the source right after it. If the source checks out by other editors, it should stay up for quite a while, if not the rest of the article's lifetime. Just remember some of Wikipedia's policies for this type of situation:
And last, but not least...
Its probably great to follow all of the aforementioned Wikipedia policies, plus the rest at all times when editing Wikipedia on any article. Just remember to use common sense and try to keep improving and maintaining Wikipedia with a positive and neutral attitude. - JWhitt (talk) 07:35, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am now proud to announce[edit]

I am now proud to announce that this article is longer considered a stub. It just needs a bit of cleanup and some more information and it should be set to function well, with updates as necessary in the future. Let's keep this going, guys! - JWhitt (talk) 07:10, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone else there?[edit]

Yea, I feel sort of lonely and ignored with just me being the one using the talk page. Does anyone else even read this or attempt to post? I'd like to know that the people working on the article are informed and would not be afraid to question something in the article or question something they wish to add. We all don't bite, you know... :-D - JWhitt (talk) 07:39, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Celebrities in the video[edit]

I've noticed that the article says that Spencer Pratt is under Pete's mask and Mark Hoppus is under Andy's.

I think this is wrong, I'm about 90% certain I'm a big fan of Fall Out Boy and have watched the video quite a few times, I changed this under my IP Address earlier but someone changed it back, should I source to the video on youtube?

I'm kind of new and wasn't sure whether I should, I'm glad you're here, JWhitt433, good on you!

Johnnyhasamagicbox (talk) 20:33, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Great to have you here, and thanks for contributing. Unfortunately, Andy does seem to be Mark, and Pete seems to be Spencer. Compare a few pictures, and you get the resemblances. To possibly jump start your mind, if you didn't know, Mark Hoppus is the bassist from blink-182 and +44, and Spencer is from a show known as "The Hills". It might be easier to find pictures that way, and frankly, I recommend a Google Images search. Just remember, feel free to contribute as much as possible and if you don't agree, challenge it here on the talk page. Thanks, and keep up the great work! - JWhitt (talk) 03:40, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
After watching the video again with pictures in other tabs for comparisons I have realised you were right, I stand corrected. I apologise. Thanks for the enlightenment =] - Johnnyhasamagicbox (talk) 14:15, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, and don't be sorry, lol. Just your opinion. Keep up the good work, though. :-) - JWhitt (talk) 20:01, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since we are on the subject Celebs in Vedios, i want to point a part of the article that says a hustling woman celebrity shown earlier (possibly Paris Hilton) in the video pulls off her mask and shows herself to be Pete in a dress

first thing she's nowhere near Paris Hilton (even if you say 'impressionist' its not, she is tanned), and I belive that she is Morena Baccarin, like 76% sure, Morena appeared in 1 How I Met Your Mother episode the crazy eyes girl, also appeared in Las Vegas as one of the 3 wives

please prove my theory or prove me wrong so i can edit this... Silver mask (Hit my PAGE) 20:23, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Jesus[edit]

Sample? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.164.52.191 (talk) 14:10, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, what? Are you asking is there is a sample of that song in this? - JWhitt (talk) 06:51, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There's definitely a sample of Personal Jesus in there. FOB's version sounds like Jamelia's in Beware of the Dog. I think it deserves a mention (being sampled from Depeche Mode, not Jamelia).86.10.75.40 (talk) 14:02, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you can provide a source stating where with proof in it, it can be mentioned, but otherwise, I don't think its worth noting. - JWhitt (talk) 21:32, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I Don't Care (Official Music Video)[edit]

You can view it on YouTube, there's a ton of copies on it.24.68.50.33 (talk) 21:30, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, we realize that. The link to the official video is even posted here. What's the point, exactly, like is there something phrased wrong? - JWhitt (talk) 04:53, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like...[edit]

Is there any mention of the fact that the songs rift sounds a lot like ZZ top's La Grange (or, Spirit in the Sky, if you prefer, since they both sound similiar)? --68.38.152.165 (talk) 15:26, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This isn't really the place to state that, because its not a major similarity and most might not even agree with that statement. - JWhitt (talk) 23:13, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Norman Greenbaum is listed as co-author. So it definitely uses "Spirit in the sky"

Writers[edit]

Here - https://play.google.com/music/preview/Tzqrhwp77cyakm5spcvqwxdal3m?lyrics=1&pcampaignid=kp-lyrics+-&u=0# - says "Written by Peter Wentz, Patrick Stump, Joseph Trohman, Andrew Hurley, Norman Greenbaum" - Norman Greenbaum ?? -- Beardo (talk) 05:18, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Norman Greenbaum writing credit[edit]

I see it lists Norman Greenbaum listed as a songwriter, but nothing specifically mentions how. I assume it's the verse riff that sounds very similar to Spirit in the Sky, but I can't find any sources about this (aside from this website, which isn't the most reputable source https://www.whosampled.com/sample/728424/Fall-Out-Boy-I-Don%27t-Care-Norman-Greenbaum-Spirit-in-the-Sky/) Derifity (talk) 10:24, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Whosampledwho.com fails WP:USERG because anyone can log on and change the info. The website is disallowed at WP:ALBUMAVOID.
The Norman Greenbaum writing credit appears with the four band member names at BMI Songview Search. Sirius XM says that the band interpolated Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky" to obtain their repeating riff.[1] A Guitar World interview implies the same thing without stating it directly.[2] Arizona Central makes two guesses about it: Greenbaum is being honored or being ripped off.[3] (Since he is officially credited, he is certainly not being ripped off.) Emeritus reviewer Dave de Sylvia said on Sputnik Music that "the boogie guitar shuffle is copped straight from Norman Greenbaum’s evergreen classic ‘Spirit In The Sky,’ itself a close cousin of John Lee Hooker’s signature tune ‘Boogie Chillun.’" So now we have some reliable sources to draw from.
