Primary topic[edit]

Clearly, all uses of this term refer to Whitman in some way and this article name should reside primarily at the Whitman article. It is, after all, his poem. Viriditas (talk) 10:52, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Moved per consensus seen below. The argument below for the Whitman poem as primary topic is difficult to refute and is therefore supported by the guideline and its community consensus. – Whitman's poem I Sing the Body Electric (poem) would seem to be the primarytopic based on it being the originator of the phrase and a quick gsearch Eddie891 Talk Work 14:25, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Eddie891, I suppose you want I Sing the Body Electric (poem) to be moved to the base title, I Sing the Body Electric? – robertsky (talk) 05:49, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Robertsky, yeah, but I couldn't figure out how to format the second part of the request on twinkle Eddie891 Talk Work 13:22, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Eddie891, done it for you. I can't remember the format offhand, but would usually go to WP:RMC and pick one existing multi-page request and copy and edit the format from there. – robertsky (talk) 15:13, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. While I agree that the poem would be the primary topic if we weighed based purely on long-term significance, its pageviews trail considerably behind those for the Twilight Zone episode. In some cases, a topic with fewer pageviews will still have sufficient significance to be primary anyway – the classic example here is Apple vs. Apple Inc. – but I don't feel that the significance gap here meets that threshold. Consequently, I feel that the best call is to leave the primary title at this DAB page. (Note as well that being the originator of the phrase is not determinative in and of itself.) • Support per nom. Unlike ModernDayTrilobite above, I think the poem does demonstrate long-term significance, being still sought-after despite hailing from 1855, and being the originator of the phrase. I suppose having the 1972 album in the mix adds an extra level of spice, and I think the album has a lot more long-term significance than the episode too, but with the poem still enjoying robust page views - 2,231 per month on average compared to 4,079 for the episode and 1,880 for the album, I think I'd give it the nod.  — Amakuru (talk) 22:07, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
