Huh?[edit]

What does this sentence mean: 'Regarding singing, the Shafi'ite scholar, Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami Al-Makki mentioned that some went so far as to claim the supposed consensus of ahlul Madinah on this question'? Why just one of his opinion's be mentioned? Is this some sort of example? His having been a Shafi'ite scholar does not need to be repeated here as it was mentioned in the main body of this topic. opinons on ibn taymiyyah[edit]

Im not a regular editor nor do I want to be. If an editor can add this in it would be great

ibn Hajar al-Haytami on Ibn Taymiyyah "Ibn Taymiyyah is a servant whom God forsook, misguided, blinded, deafened, and debased. That is the declaration of the imams who have exposed the corruption of his positions and the mendacity of his sayings. Whoever wishes to pursue this must read the words of the Mujtahid Imam Abu al Hasan al Subki, of his son Taj al Din Subki, of the Imam al Izz ibn Jama and others of the Shafi, Maliki, and Hanafi scholars... It must be considered that he is a misguided and misguiding innovator and an ignorant who brought evil whom God treated with His justice. May He protect us from the likes of his path, doctrine, and actions"

In general long quotes should be avoided. There's also the issue of attribution; how will that be cited? If the source is al-Haytami's own book, then it would be a primary source and inappropriate for a value judgment. If it's from a reliable secondary source like Brill or McGill, then it would better be put into a section of the Ibn Taymiyyah article. MezzoMezzo (talk) 03:59, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
