Status as philosopher[edit]

Inaccurately deemed a "philosopher" page. Changed to bio. A picture/map of travels would add a lot to this article as well.--Aeranis 07:14, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Biographical info[edit]

I have not found a good source for the biographical information in the article and have had to rely on the article by Pellat in the Encyclopaedia of Islam. This does not provide inline citations to the primary literature. Googling suggests that there may be uncertainty in where and when he was born – Jativa in 1144 and Valencia in 1145 are mentioned. - Aa77zz (talk) 07:05, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For example, Google snippet view of Vol 1 of Maurice Gaudefroy-Demombynes 1949 translation has: "Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad Ibn Jubayr Maurice Gaudefroy-Demombynes. Hjstef v ... Jobaïr (1), naquit à Valence, ou peut-être à Xativa, le 10 du mois de rabi' 1/540 (1er septembre 1145) ou, selon d'autres auteurs, en 539." See here. Unfortunately Broadhurst 1952, which I have, gives almost no biographical information. - Aa77zz (talk) 07:17, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
