Notability[edit]

Can some enterprising editor provide links to mainstream reviews of this novel? Barton Foley (talk) 18:03, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why "Idoru"?[edit]

Anyone know the reason why Gibson misspelled the Japanese word for idol, which is アイドル (romanized as aidoru)? Sorry if this question is not seen as pertaining to the article as it stands now, but if there is an answer, there might be a place for that piece of trivia in the article. 24.85.131.247 (talk) 05:34, 5 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I can only speculate since I cannot find anything in regards to the name. The name of a novel is often an editorial choice from the standpoint of marketing by the publisher. It may also be a deliberate choice as more recognizable to the English root (of the Japlish loan word since it itself is a Japonization of English phonemes) "Idol" versus the more phonetically correct "aidoru" which might be less recognizable to an English speaker as pertaining to idol.Pmarshal (talk) 09:24, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
