How is the band's name pronounced?

Could someone please add this to the article. TallGuy 22:28, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Sweet. Thanks :) TallGuy 06:16, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

Infobox + genre

I fixed the infobox, and also re-added Latin metal as one of their genres. Someone removed it a few edits back and gave no reason, and seeing as they're listed here and also fit the description on that page, then it should be added. H4cksaw 10:01, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Genre

Please don't remove a genre which has been referenced from a reliable source. There is no way Ill Nino are speed metal or heavy metal, but because they have a reference, they remain listed in the infobox. Anyhow, listen to Revolution Revolucion and hear the use of turntables throughout the album, particularly on the songs "If You Still Hate Me" and "What Comes Around". And the fact the vocals are screaming/shouting, which is another common trait of nu metal. Dmiles21 05:58, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Ill nino one nation.jpg

Image:Ill nino one nation.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. associated acts

how are any of the bands listed in associated acts associated? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.204.15.77 (talk) 00:06, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Latin metal?

Please: can anyone provide a source for this? It keeps getting reverted back by a few users. If you wish to include in the body of the article somewhere "They term their music/their music has been termed "Latin metal".", then by all means do so. But the infobox should not contain a genre wikipedia does not acknowledge. Until some kind of source is found, I'll change it simply to the general "rock". Prophaniti (talk) 09:15, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

There is no such genre as Latin Metal

There are metal bands that may have latino influences in their music but there is no such genre as Latin Metal. At least not to my knowledge. That'd be like making a genre for racially white bands and calling it caucasian metal. Thats dumb. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DarrelClemmons (talkcontribs) 08:58, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

The term Latin is in no way used in a racial sense here but rather in a musical one. Latin music does exist and a sub musical genre such as Latin Metal is acceptable to define the fusion of both. --Gibmetal 77talk 10:45, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

I'll leave it be. If its that important to you I suggest you site sources, bring it up for discussion under the heavy metal project under wikipedia, and see about starting a new page for "Latin-Metal". Here I'll even help you: http://www.metaleros.de/ But I'm telling you most people will debate with you over the use of that term. If its a large enough fusion genre shouldn't it deserve at least a stub of some kind? —Preceding unsigned comment added by DarrelClemmons (talkcontribs) 15:54, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

  • Your earlier remark, "At least not to my knowledge," says enough. Drmies (talk) 16:10, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Marc Rizzo Controversy

Would it be worth putting a section of the now Soulfy guitarist's leaving the band? He gave various interviews claiming he left because Ill Niño does not play live legitimately, rather playing to a recording, which the band vigorously denied. It was quite big deal back in mid 2000's, though in an article so small is it worth a section? 125.64.94.68 (talk) 17:47, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Split discography

Split - Discography is long, and should be split to Ill Niño discography. Thoughts? --Jax 0677 (talk) 15:54, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Latin Metal??

Latin Metal? This information is so absurd that it's ironic. Just shows the amount of misinformation that the American people have about these issues. Is no more than a comment that can be called even racist! The band is composed of several, see, BRAZILIAN. And those who think that Brazil speaks Spanish, honestly I don't know what you do here, in Wikipedia pages.

For your information, Brazil is a country that speaks PORTUGUESE. In the concept that you, Americans, have created, we are not Latinos. Learn it, please!

I'll to remove that information until someone give me reliable sources that says III Nino has something with Latinos, because nobody in the band speaks Spanish, have mexicans intruments, or dancing salsa! That's so absurd, dudes! Get informed! MetalBrasil (talk) 14:36, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Maybe you should not make such harsh claims and tell others to get educated... Cf. the usage of Latin in Latin America and Latin peoples. That should help you to calm down a bit - in case you still are in that mental state that produced your statements above. I, for one, don't have a strong opinion on the matter - but it seems pretty much settled nowadays anyway (i.e. there is a Latin Metal page now. Fun fact: you wrote the name of the band wrong :) --AmenophisIII (talk) 14:24, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

Couto is a member again

So apparently, there's some dispute on their current percussionist. In YouTube videos from 2017, specifically this one, you can see that the guy playing is Danny Couto. This is what Oscar looks like. Just because the band's facebook page says that Oscar is still the drummer, it doesn't make it any more true. Seelentau (talk) 12:14, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

oooooh! Okay, thank you! Seelentau (talk) 17:35, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
En ingles, por favor? dannymusiceditor oops 17:44, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
He basically said that Danny replaced Oscar for some shows because Oscar had to fly home to be with his family during Hurricane Irma. :) Seelentau (talk) 17:48, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

Yes.. :).. no tengo un ingles fluido.. y antes de intentar explicarlo en ingles terriblemente lo explique en español... cordiales saludos.

Gracias. Mi idioma primario es ingles, pero puedo entender y hablar un poco de español. Aunque no sé mucho. (@Seelentau: thank you for the translation.) dannymusiceditor oops 15:02, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

Sound

I'm not being funny, but this band shares similarities with a number of bands. Saying they sound like Soulfly is an opinion, which I dont feel gives a good description of the band and really does not need to be highlighted in the first paragraph. For this reason I am going to remove it.

Il Nino Redirect

Could anybody please arrange, that you get redirected to the right article, if you type "Il Nino" without this special "n"?

Capitalisation

Should the Ill be capitalised, as capital I and two lowercase ls look the same as the roman representation for 3 and, could be anything else, such as III(iii), lll(LLL) IIl(iiL)

I think the phonetic spelling takes care of that. Tromboneguy0186 00:43, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

For music video credits (on MTV2 anyway), it usually has "ill," but technically speaking, you'd probably want to go with "Ill." It's just too bad the Arial font doesn't show any differenciation between the letters.

Rfc for current musicians of American heavy metal band Ill Niño

Should Christian Machado, Ahrue Luster, Diego Verduzco and Oscar Santiago be listed as current members of American heavy metal band Ill Niño during the legal dispute involving the band name? --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:21, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

  • Comment - Also, should the Ill Niño led by Marcos Leal be called "Dave Chavarri's Ill Nino"? --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:32, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
