(In your opening statement, you claim Illinois Steel was created through mergers in 1889, then go on in the following chapter to say it was formed in 1899. So which is the truth? Illinois steel in 1889 or Federal steel in 1898?

"Carnegie sold steel near Chicago at only eighteen cents a ton, forcing Illinois Steel to sell their products below production cost."
