Style & NPOV

Here's why I'm removing the content for NPOV and style:

  • "consistently ranked as" is one of the phrases specifically noted as problematic in WP:PRESTIGE. It's blatant academic boosterism. The information is also included elsewhere and doesn't need to be in the lead.
  • The athletic championship info seems to be undue weight in the lead; it should be in the athletics section.
  • Per WP:UNIGUIDE, the Academics section should be called Academics, not Academics & Scholarship.

I'm happy to discuss the interpretation of the guidelines. WeisheitSuchen (talk) 17:00, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Copyvio concern

The wayback machine has the history section contents at [1] before it was included in this article. I see revisions dating to 2010 that are violations, but the version before that was added was also a copy violation of the previous version of the page. I am unsure whether a massive revdel is necessary here. power~enwiki (π, ν) 20:36, 15 December 2017 (UTC)

@Power~enwiki: I'm happy to deal with the revdel but which version, if any, is the last version not containing a copyvio? Or are we back to the very first edit to this page? Nthep (talk) 16:38, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
Special:Diff/401104499 is where the material I recently removed was added. I'm not 100% confident earlier versions are clean. power~enwiki (π, ν) 05:45, 17 December 2017 (UTC)
OK, I've dealt with the immediate concern. So if I'm getting this right the other worry is that versions of this page pre December 2010 may be (were?) copyvios of a now archived page of www.iwu.edu/aboutiwu? Nthep (talk) 10:48, 17 December 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, older versions of this page seemed similar to older versions of the IWU "about" page. Looking again, while it was clearly an (uncited) source, I don't see any direct copying (comparing [2] to [3]. power~enwiki (π, ν) 19:54, 17 December 2017 (UTC)
Let's leave things as they are then, if it's at most close para-phrasing then it doesn't really justify revdel. Nthep (talk) 12:32, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
