Neutral POV[edit]
Added a POV note. Multiple editors appears to be involved or have ties to the IES. Removed some unsourced information that appeared promotional. Page likely needs a finer review from impartial sources. -MrBula, 29 December 2018.
- @MrBula: I did a little work and it seems better now, so I went ahead and removed the tag. It looks like most of the recent COI edits were minor, such as updating links and the name of the organization (see below). I'm leaving a couple sentences talking about their publications and membership in a positive light because that doesn't really concern me, at least not as far as POV, COI, advertising, spam links, etc. – voidxor 22:13, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
IES vs IESNA[edit]
If someone who knows the history could add a clarification explaining when/why/how the 'of North America' is/was used, that'd be nice. Da5nsy (talk) 11:49, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Da5nsy: They dropped the "of North America" part circa 2017, perhaps in an attempt to globalize. An editor with a COI attempted to update it, but didn't move the article—creating more confusion. I moved the article and added "formerly the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America" to the lede. Hopefully that will clarify things. – voidxor 22:13, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
