Meta-analysis of COVID in HCW

I contributed some valuable information about the shortage of PPE and its effect on healthcare workers, psychological impacts, a few additional bullets of recommendations for managing job stress, and additional statistics on how female healthcare workers are being affected. While I do not have the time or current resources to do so, I believe adding information about some of the other equipment (testing kits, ventilators, etc) that hospitals are lacking would help to solidify the stress that healthcare workers are experiencing during the pandemic. Removing statement about disproportionate impact on African American healthcare workers

I am trying to remove this statement because including it diminishes the impact felt by all healthcare workers confronting COVID-19. It distracts from the article’s subject and gives the impression that the purpose of the article is to discuss certain demographics of healthcare workers rather than healthcare workers as a whole. Impact on female staff

So women make up 70% of healthcare workers and at the same time they are twice as likely to get infected??? Well yeah, it's called math. If women are 70% then men are 30%, which is less than half the number of women. In light of that, what point is there claiming women get infected more frequently? I added some information about the effects of the pandemic on healthcare workers. The effects on healthcare staff as a whole are important as well as how this affects patient care. I think finding and adding statistics about the male staff would be beneficial as well, so all sides of the story are expressed.Mquinn15 (talk) 01:49, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

Planned Edits

I plan to add to the psychological impact section more information about burnout in healthcare professionals during COVID-19 from recent published studies. I also want to add to the female staff section since males and females experience slightly different psychological effects and intensity when in stressful situations for longterm. Edits

I added a section about understaffing and how it was exacerbated by the pandemic. In order to show how it further affected the healthcare workers causing them to be overworked due to insufficient staffing. I also added a section about how healthcare workers were challenged but are rising to meet these challenges. The lessons that can be learned through experience. Both of these sections could be improved by adding information from new studies as they are researched. The truth about this topic is the research is just beginning there has not been a lot of time to conduct studies or to see the longer-term effects.Mquinn15 (talk) 01:56, 1 October 2021 (UTC)
