Error[edit]

< In 1878 Imperial acquired the street tramway systems in Middlesbrough and Stockton-on-Tees, >

Is this correct? Other articles do not support it.

Which articles ? Middlesbrough, Stockton and Thornaby Electric Tramways Company refers to it, although it only gives dates for electrification, not for the predecessor steam and horse-worked lines. RGCorris (talk) 13:31, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Imperial's accounts for 31st October 1879 state "Middlesbrough - This line has been worked by the Company since August of last year". Those for 31st December 1895 still refer only to Middlesbrough. Those for 30th June 1898 refer to the Middlesbrough, Stockton and Thornaby Electric Tramways as follows "The whole period under review has been occupied in completing the electrical equipment of this important undertaking, which was to have been out of the Contractors' hands on the 24th April last. The loss of traffic has only partially been met by the penalties due under the Contract as liquidated damages......The system was, however, sufficiently advanced to be opened for public traffic on the 16th July...." So I will amend the article to show that Middlesbrough was acquired in 1878 and Stockton in 1896. RGCorris (talk) 12:02, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
