Copied from?

I moved the text from Independent city#United States. furthermore, the site from which the text was supposedly copied is a mirror of Wikipedia. --Toussaint (talk) 07:52, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

I concur with Toussaint. Take the human eye (even the unknown human eye) over the crazy bot.--161.7.96.69 (talk) 20:01, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
I have removed the tag. That site must have copied the source of a Wiki article, which means that it is a mirror site. Minima© (talk) 20:28, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Connection with main topic

The original topic should still have a paragraph which summarizes this subtopic, to fit into the normal flow of discussion. TEDickey (talk) 08:58, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

"[A]ny particular county"

The phrase "city that does not belong to any particular county" is confusing and misleading, because the word "particular", it appears, does nothing to affect the meaning of the enclosing sentence: It just makes the reader look for hints that there are independent cities that belong to several counties.

I agree and will reword that. Doctor Whom (talk) 15:48, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

Other entities similar to independent cities

I have tagged this section with the "example farm" template because we don't need a long list of consolidated city-counties for the readers to get the point. If anything, we need fewer examples, not more; I suggest that the list be pruned to two or three particularly well known examples. Doctor Whom (talk) 15:43, 13 July 2018 (UTC)

There being no dissent in over a month, I will shortly start pruning. Doctor Whom (talk) 17:41, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

I would recommend altering the list of examples to include Nashville as one of them, given that it was the first in the USA to accomplish the consolidation and all subsequent attempts were based on Nashville's model. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Syclo Huoyangui (talkcontribs) 16:09, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

In what way was Nashville the model for independent cities (the actual subject of this article)? Detailed descriptions of local governments other than independent cities belong in the the relevant articles. Doctor Whom (talk) 14:31, 3 March 2020 (UTC)
