Special Characters in Edits

I have noticed people swapping out the character - for the character –. While they look nearly the same, the wider dash is not a valid utf-8 character. Wikipedia uses utf-8 encoding. These are completely unnecessary edits, uses the wrong character type, and offers no value to the page. There are over 50 instances of the wrong character used on the Indianapolis International Airport page if anyone is interested in taking the time to fix them. If in doubt just Google the utf-8 character set.

Muslim Prayer Rituals

I have been reverted twice for adding information about foot baths for Muslim pryaer rituals. This is well sourced from a news publication. I would like to know why I am being reverted for putting in this fact especially when its backed up by a source? I can give additional source if necessary but this removal of sourced statements without discussion is really not appropriate. Also the reverting user has accused me of adding a quote from "jihadwatch". I do not remember doing that.NapoleansSword 20:37, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

I actually came here looking for that fact. Could you please at least post it in here? I am looking for a credible source for that claim. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.141.210 (talk) 00:09, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Places and gates are correct now

I have just gone through all of the timetables for all of the airlines and all information now reflects the CURRENT cities for which each airline flies.

I also went through gate assignments and found Northwest now owns A3 as well since they park a flight from LaGuardia there each night. Also Continental and Delta park flights at A25 and A16 respectively each night.

All information is now correct and I plan on updating it again in February when timetables change but for the next few weeks all info is now 100% CORRECT.

I also added a useful section about nearbye cities that are served by this airport. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 156.56.151.185 (talk) 22:43, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

NWA

Could someone cite the NWA infortmation as it pertains to seasonal flights because I'm sorry but I just don't believe that that many cities are only seasonal. That's a massive drawback from before. I won't change it as long you provide me with some sources. 68.52.36.127 (talk) 01:50, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Quick Question

Is Indianapolis still getting a WorldClub because the new terminal map doesn't show it? 45Factoid44 (talk) 04:46, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Club Response

I feel 95% certain the club is dead. IND seems to be losing all the non hub routes NW was flying prior to the merger. With all the routes going away I suspect the club went away as well. It was killed by fuel prices this summer, followed by the merger, followed by the economy.

AirTran and Las Vegas & Los Angeles 2010

There have been too many changes where the routes are being added and removed from the Wiki. Las Vegas is operating as planned by AirTran and should remain listed. AirTran has indeed pulled Los Angeles from Indianapolis. It will not run in 2010 for whatever reason. This is a done deal. It is debatable whether it will return in 2011 but it is a gonner for 2010. I don't see how we can list a seasonal route if it will not operate during a calendar year.

Cities for which the Indianapolis International Airport is the closest Major Airport

The chart lists Muncie at 82 miles away from the Indianapolis Airport. However, the Fort Wayne International Airport is the closest to Muncie at 74 miles. (https://www.google.com/search?q=distance+from+muncie+indiana+to+fort+wayne+international+airport&oq=distance+from+muncie+indiana+to+fort+wayne+international+airport&aqs=chrome..69i57.18972j0j7&sourceid=chrome&espv=2&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.198.67.192 (talk) 09:47, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Don't think many would call Fort Wayne a "major" airport - looking it up, see it only has flights to a few airline hubs and a couple Florida destinations on a discount airline. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.158.48.14 (talk) 13:08, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

OneJet Status

Should OneJet be listed as a hub or a focus city for the airline? It seems as though this business-style airline only operates through focus cities, but it is headquartered in Indianapolis. So, should we leave it as a hub or change it? Thoughts?

Please remember to sign your messages with four ~. Technically, it is neither. OneJet does not list any hubs or focus cities on their website. If you can find a reference where they consider Indy a hub or focus city, then list it as such. If not, don't list it as anything. They don't really connect any passengers, so a "hub" in the sense of the word (from the "hub-and-spoke system") doesn't really fit. Tofutwitch11 (TALK) 20:28, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
True about the hubs. I will change Indianapolis to a focus city for OneJet. Usually, these types of airlines don't call their main cities hubs anyway. However, please get your facts right. There are MANY websites and articles saying how Indianapolis and Pittsburgh are focus cities for the airline. *AirportUpdater* (talk) 20:38, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
The airline has to be the source to decide if it is a hub or focus city or not. It's not up to a newspaper to decide what is a hub, you know? That would be like the NY Times telling Delta that Portland is a hub, even though Delta doesn't consider it one. Tofutwitch11 (TALK) 20:39, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
That's completely not what I'm saying. Anyway, where do you think the websites get there information from? The airlines. Nothing else. So, what they are reporting is straight from the source. *AirportUpdater* (talk) 21:00, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

Assessment comment

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Indianapolis International Airport/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

For a large airport, this could use some more information in the history department. Also separate sections for history and major incidents would be useful, as this would make it more like other pages. The page seems measly in comparison to some other airport pages. A whole lot more citations and references would also be useful.Gittinsj 04:53, 18 March 2007 (UTC)gittinsj
