Hi there! My name is Brittany and I am currently in the Masters of Information program at the University of Toronto. I am doing an assignment on Wikipedia for my "Knowledge and Information in Society" course, which is part of Wikipedia's Canadian Education Program. Part of the assignment is to edit an article and I have chosen to contribute to this one. Working on this article, but will take some additional time[edit]

I was very happy to see this article exists. I recently wrote the Interference Archive article and saw this page mentions it. I'd not heard of the term "information activism" before, and now am wondering if it's sufficiently clearly defined. I started copyediting the lead and moved the article to the phenomenon rather than the participant (activism vs. activist). As I looked around, I quickly found uses of the term in the 90s (and perhaps before), well before the lead claimed it was "coined" by Anthony Molaro in 2009. Now I see that the creator of this page, Anth8825 also created the now deleted Anthony Molaro. Some WP:COI it seems like. I removed the assertion that Molaro coined the term, but left his definition for the time being. I'm going to continue working on this but need to:

First of all, figure out if this is indeed a well defined concept according to reliable sources, or if it's more of a cross-section between freedom of information, culture jamming, and other forms of activism (including specific types of advocacy)
Second, rewrite the primary content (about the concept) of the article to reflect reliable sources (rather than a single source based on a COI)
Third, rework the rest of the article to be about the subject rather than a compilation of examples (i.e. we need more scholarly sources)
