Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that this page be merged into School of Archaeology, along with RLAHA. This is because both the Institute and RLAHA are currently listed as separate departments in the University of Oxford template on Wikipedia, but they have been combined as the School of Archaeology since 2000 within the University's official structure, see the official department page). Additionally, the University does not recognise them as separate entities, see the list of departments at the University of Oxford. When considered that the RLAHA page is currently tagged as a stub, it seems unnecessary for it to have a separate page, and a merge would streamline all information on this department for readers.Amys eye (talk) 09:09, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. I don't think we need to worry about "streamlining" our content. The two entities have long histories as independent institutes (see the histories on the School's website for example) and consequently the sources I've seen tend to treat them independently. We also don't have to worry about what the "official" structure is, only how reliable sources cover these topics and whether there is overlap in content (very little). We now have an article on the School of Archaeology that can point to the other two and we can update the template accordingly. – Joe (talk) 23:05, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
