Saddam allowed the world to believe he had WMD[edit]

Saddam Hussein told an FBI interviewer before he was hanged that he allowed the world to believe he had weapons of mass destruction because he was worried about appearing weak to Iran, according to declassified accounts of the interviews released yesterday.

The problem with the Associated Press quote, above, is that it is contradicted by other sources who say transcribed accounts are unclear. I wasn't planning on adding these sources, to avoid conflict; opting to remove the AP quote instead. But if user Dhaluza insists on giving undue weight to this risible claim (Saddam unwittingly fooled the United States into invading) I see no option but to create an additional section to describe the various counter points. Fine. But in that case, give it no more weight than the evidence he DID intend to deceive the world (or at least part of it, allegedly only Iran). An “analysis” by a biased reporter (he wrote author of “War on Terror, Inc. - Corporate profiteering from the politics of fear” so don’t give me some BS that he’s not biased) that essentially says “a bank robber who denies having had a toy gun in his jacket pocket when he robbed the bank clearly could never have robbed the bank” is hardly worthy of such an extensive entry, yet his “opinion” is the only one really shown.
A potential solution: Include a quote of the section that SSA PIRO claims were the effective confession of HUSSEIN’S “gaming the system” (claiming he didn’t have any WMD’s, then waving his jacket pocket around so everyone would see the toy gun and assume it’s the real thing). Info on John Nixon needed[edit]

There is plenty of good, valid information in this article regarding George Piro's interviews and interrogations with Saddam, but nothing on John Nixon, a CIA senior analyst who also interviewed Saddam for around 5 weeks I believe. He has countless videos, articles, starred in documentaries and wrote a book about his interviews with Saddam. I request that we add information on him to the article as well. 3Oh Hexelon (talk) 18:07, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just bought his book on his time interrogating saddam, will update page soon. El Juan Moreno (talk) 05:00, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
