Article needs major work[edit]

This article was clearly written by someone who is not well-versed in the history and geography of Ireland. For example, his use of Londonderry instead of Derry (which I have changed) and his insistance that Ardoyne is in West Belfast when it's obviously in North Belfast. It would behoove the author to read a book on Ireland before attempting to write an article on an Irish issue. This is not meant to be insulting or a criticism but when a Wikipedia article is erroneous the author needs to realise his mistakes and not continue to revert the corrections. No offense intended.--jeanne (talk) 07:16, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have read author's source which is a government report and that does say that Ardoyne is in West Belfast, however it's a geographical fact that Ardoyne is in North Belfast not West. Therefore, the report is erroneous.Anyone can look on a map of Belfast to see that Ardoyne is most certainly in North Belfast.--jeanne (talk) 17:25, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Go ahead and change it but get another source (probably two official sources to overdo this). Lihaas (talk) 18:04, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What do I need to source? That Ardoyne is in North Belfast?--jeanne (talk) 07:02, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well we have one [government] source that says one thing. So we'll need more official sources to show its wrong. Lihaas (talk) 20:22, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Lihaas, any map of Belfast will serve to prove the government report was incorrect in stating that Ardoyne is located in West Belfast.--jeanne (talk) 06:14, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That should be a cite then. but another official one.
it's not me that's disapproving. there is an official governmetn sanction citation here. Lihaas (talk) 07:36, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Now you got two contradictory sources. One has to outweigh the other. Lihaas (talk) 16:35, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One does not need a government document saying Ardoyne is in North Belfast. It's a geographical fact plain and simple. Look on any city map of Belfast, or yet, read the article on Ardoyne here at Wikipedia.--jeanne (talk) 17:55, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It may well be a fact. But there are still two contradictory sources for it. Or maybe we can take out the direction altogether? Lihaas (talk) 18:10, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea. Let's just say Belfast in the Ardoyne area.--jeanne (talk) 18:25, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When did they form?[edit]

When was the IRLA formed? The opening sentence uses the verb "had", which is in the past tense. So when did they threaten to use paramilitary action?--jeanne (talk) 18:03, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment[edit]

There is no evidence that this article ever went through the Good Article assessment. The WikiProject templates were added with classifications and importance ratings by the creating editor Lihaas. Assessment should be done by the assessment teams of the individual projects because WikiProjects use criteria and a random assessment as part of the article's creation are unlikely to comply with those criteria unless that editor is intimately familiar with them, as seems the case here. I have re-rated mainly per the Wikipedia:WikiProject Ireland/Assessment. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 04:19, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
