My Grandfather[edit]

I'm continuing Ancestry research on our family history and saw my paternal step Grandfather Isidor Niflot here. He was a very interesting man. He and his wife Florence Trudeau (Gott) Niflot had a son John "Jack" who died several years ago. He also led a very interesting life as a writer, local historian, local politician and worked as a photographer for the local newspaper in Sullivan County in the Catskills. Their son reported and took many photos from the 1969 Woodstock concert in Bethel NY and his picture is on the wall to the entrance of the Museum at Bethel Woods. In later years after his career ended, he married my Grandmother Florence who was a divorcee with several children and they had Jack. In the 1940's they opened Niflot's Brookside Farm, which was a "rest home" for mentally disturbed women. They took in the lighter cases from Middletown Mental Hospital and gave them light duties to do light cooking and gardening to feel useful. My Grandfather died in a Callicoon Drug Store while purchasing a magazine. While in the Olympics, he kept a large scrapbook containing hundreds of mementos. He had photos and mementos of Constantine, Duke of Sparta, George, Prince of Greece, Nicholas, Prince of Greece, and many others. No one in the family knows exactly what happened to the scrapbook unfortunately. He went become an instructor in NYC at the City Athletic Club before meeting my Grandma. They are buried together in the family plot in Rock Valley Cemetery in Fremont Sullivan County NY. Koalad925 (talk) 13:11, 10 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
