Drago v Creed - pro record[edit]

The Ivan Drago versus Apollo Creed match was an exhibition thus does not count toward either fighters professional record. It was suppose to be for fun and show but it turned out horribly wrong. So whoever keeps giving false information by crediting Drago with a professional victory against Creed, please stop it.

Apollo's Age[edit]

In the article, it says that Apollo was 37 years old when he fought Drago. I don't know who found that out, but in Rocky IV, the announcers clearly state that Apollo was "over the hill", which makes it more likely he was around 41 or 42 at the time of the fight. Also, the Apollo Creed wikipedia page listed Creed born in 1935, which would have made him 50 at the time of the Creed vs. Drago fight! I changed that date to 1942, because many people have suggested that Creed was based on Muhammad Ali, and that's Ali's birth year. If 1942 is the date, then Apollo in Rocky IV would be about 42. It just seems like my logic is more correct than what is listed here.

Additionally, following up on my first comment, Rocky Balboa had to be 39 in Rocky IV. He was 30 (or going to be turning 30) when he fought Apollo the first time, and in Rocky IV, him and Adrian are celebrating their 9th anniversary (getting married early in Rocky II). I think it bas been assumed that Apollo was older than Rocky by a few years, and surely NOT younger.

Ruthless[edit]

He was recently defended by the iconoclastic satire site Ruthless Reviews, here. Not sure if it really belongs in the article (an external links section would be very spartan, with only one link) but it's a good piece of writing. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 14:03, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar[edit]

This article severely needs, perhaps not a rewrite, but certainly proofreading. It looks terrible. I would do it, but I haven't the time right now :) (LunisNeko, public computer, no time to sign in) 66.143.211.63 (talk) 21:37, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Original quotes in Russian[edit]

I'm really disappointed that someone again changed the original quotes (that actually were in the film) on some literary translation. If you have some problems with spelling, watch the original: Rocky vs Drago, part I at YouTube (event occurs at 4:42): "Not true, but like a piece of iron." (in Russian), and Rocky vs Drago, part II at YouTube (event occurs at 3:14): "I will gain the victory for myself. For myself!" (in Russian). — Al3xil  19:46, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've deleted that incorrect statement with a misspelled quote from the article Rocky IV: Drago replies in his native tongue: "He's (Balboa) not human. He's like a piece of iron".
In the original (see the 1st video), he says different words meaningfully, and it can not be interpreted separately from the words of Rocky's coach: [The coach to Rocky after his series of successful strikes against Drago]: You see? You see? He's not a machine, he's a man, he's a man. [Drago hears it and replies]: Not true, but like a piece of iron.", lit. "It's a lie! I'm [Drago] like a piece of iron."— Al3xil  08:12, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Drago's "cameo" in Rocky Balboa[edit]

I just checked the end to Rocky Balboa and the man bowing his head looks nothing like Dolph Lundgren. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.222.105.136 (talk) 00:27, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article in serious need of help[edit]

This article reads like a fan-bio page. There's no encyclopedic treatment. It has been tagged for over a year now as consisting of original research and of being written in in-universe style. If the article is not re-written in an encyclopedic way, it is very likely it will be deleted soon. --Hammersoft (talk) 20:36, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Todd Noy[edit]

I have removed the section "Todd Noy's 1989 novel 'On Mountains we Stand' chronicles the rise of Ivan Drago after his defeat in Moscow. The novel is affectionately referred to as 'Noy's Final Masterpiece'." This is unsourced and quite frankly, Google barely registers this book ever existed. Even if it did, I see no evidence of it being officially canon for the character. Doesn't seem notable at all to me, looks more like someone more interested in plugging Noy's work. 74.128.79.116 (talk) 18:57, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There is no such author and the "novel" is a fanfic that dates to 2011 ( https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-02-23/unmasking-the-internets-favourite-novelist/10830116 ). It's nonsense vandalism when people include it. Ehrbar (talk) 05:30, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stance: orthodox ?[edit]

Hey, what's up with that ? It was some 30 years ago, it was Soviet Union then, and Drago was not from Vladimir Putins Russia - he is a ("godless") soviet army communist (atheist). Any hint for Drago being orthodox ? --129.187.244.28 (talk) 11:22, 1 June 2017 (UTC) I guess it means if his strong (rear) hand is the right hand (orthodox stance) or his left hand (southpaw).[reply]

Ukranian?[edit]

The Creed II trailer describes Drago's son Victor as Ukranian, which seems to suggest that Drago himself is actually Ukranian. bd2412 T 20:35, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Help me![edit]

Noy book pt2[edit]

I've removed the section on the book by Todd Noy, it's non-canonical, basically fanfiction, never mass published. While I think it MAY have some notability outside this article, (see articles like: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-02-23/unmasking-the-internets-favourite-novelist/10830116?nw=0) I think the section in the article gave it Undue Weight.
